Humble Bundle for Android!
World of Goo is part of the first ever Humble Bundle for Android, along with three other games we love: Edge, Osmos, and Anomaly. You can get the bundle by clicking the purchase button above or from the Humble Bundle website directly.
One Million Downloads!
World of Goo was released on iOS a little over a year ago, and some time in the wee hours of last night, someone was the millionth person to buy World of Goo on the App Store. Whoever you are, we wish you a long, healthy, and prosperous life!
Most of the sales came from the iOS App Store, but a non trivial amount came from the Mac App Store as well. Here’s the breakdown:
- 69% of downloads and 79% of revenue came from the Universal version
- 29% of downloads and 17% of revenue came from the iPhone version
- 2% of downloads and 4% of revenue came from the Mac App Store
On a related note, the Android version, which we released on the Android Market a little over a month ago is also doing really well. On Android we released a free demo (same as on the PC) and a paid version for the same price as the Universal iOS version ($4.99). So far, the free demo has been downloaded about 450,000 times, and we’ve sold about 70,000 copies of the full version.
For comparison, during the same period of time after the iOS launch, we sold about 180,000 copies. This is not a fair comparison for a variety reasons, but it does indicate that the Android Market is no longer the tiny upstart it was a year or two ago. Another thing worth pointing out is that even though most of the time the Android Market top 10 list contains only freemium/F2P games, there is an opportunity for high visibility paid games to do very well on Android.
Android Update Available
World of Goo for Android has just been updated to work with more devices, including HTC Desire and Nexus 1.
As always, if the Android Market will not let you install World of Goo, you can always try downloading directly from here: Demo Version and Full Version
Update update: It appears some devices, including HTC Desire, have an apk size limit that prevents seeing apps in the Android Market over a certain size. If you can see the demo but not the full version, this likely applies to you. If so, just use the direct links above.
World of Goo Now Available on Android!
World of Goo is now available on the Android Market, and to celebrate the release, it’s 40% off ($2.99) until December 5.
Full version is available here.
Demo version is available here.
The game will run on most phones with Android 2.2 or newer and on all tablets. There are lots of Android devices out there with varying capabilities, so if you have an older phone, we recommend trying the demo first. If you like, let us know how the game runs on your device!
Thank you, from all the Goo Balls, and have fun!

Android Release Rescheduled To Monday, November 28
World of Goo (AP) – While attempting to ship Goo for Android devices yesterday, a World of Goo Corporation tanker malfunctioned, flooding a 40 mile stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and disabling around 150 vehicles. As a result, Android Goo will be available to all World of Goo Corporation’s customers via the Android Market on November 28, a 5 day delay from the planned schedule.
“We deeply regret this inconvenience to our loyal customers who are eagerly and patiently awaiting the arrival of Goo on their Android devices” said a World of Goo Corporation Associate PR Representative. “We are hard at work preparing a new batch of Android Goo and are committed to replacing our shipping and logistics sub-contractors who we believe are to blame for this incident.”
“This minor failure may have cost the state of Pennsylvania and several on our insurance partners a few million dollars,” added the representative, ” but we would like to assure our valued customers that this will in no way affect future shipments of Goo.”
The multiple-award-winning World of Goo is expected to go on sale on the Android Market for $4.99, matching the universal iOS version’s price point. It will run on most phones with Android 2.2 or newer and on all tablets, and includes OpenFeint integration.
