GooTool 0.10.2 is out, another small step along the road to 1.0 while xanax distracts me with the level editor.
This version lets you backup and restore your profile to this site, giving you a quick and easy way to make backups and also to transfer profiles between machines (even between Windows/Mac/Linux). This doesn't share your profile with anyone; that's a separate option "publish profile" that is not yet finished.
You can store up to 10 profiles on this site (let me know if that's not enough). After that, the oldest profile is deleted. You can also "preserve" backups using "My backups" on the right-hand navigation, preventing them being deleted this way.
Also in this version are some other improvements, mostly for the Linux version and forthcoming 1.40 World of Goo. Read on for the changelog.
In 2dboy news, Kyle found time to release the soundtrack, and the Linux beta is now complete and it should be released soon.
GooTool 0.10.2 Changes
- Added GooFans.com login, added profile backup/restore
- Auto-detect the Linux installation location through ~/.WorldOfGoo/LastRun.txt
- Adjust layout of Chapter 1 and automatically resize screen to fit installed levels.
- Send OS and CPU type in CheckVersion API call
- Fix reading of Unicode characters in profiles under World of Goo 1.40+
- The checkboxes in addin list can now be clicked to enable/disable the addin
- Linux startup script now uses /bin/bash due to some strange sh-alikes out there.

so gootool will be able to make levels in the future?

That's the tentative plan, but no promises.
The first (non-public) version of GooTool was written to become a level editor, then zark92 brought his out and I didn't see the point in duplicating his efforts.
Now that he seems to have vanished, I'm considering finishing the level editor, but I have no ETA and it definitely won't be out before GooTool 1.0. I need to complete profile publishing and the addin directory on this site first as well.
The screenshot above is pretty much pre-2009 work plus a few recent additions when I was bored (toolbar, dragging balls into levels).

Wow, thanks for the backup function, davidc. I was just beginning to get frustrated at unable to find the pers2.dat file, and then I read the post. Absolute life-saver.
And can't wait for the LevelEditor - looks much, much easier to use then the existing one. Can't wait for a release, BETA or full!
