Mac port, anyone want to test?kyle04/25/2008 - 14:42

We're working quickly to get a Mac port ready for this Mac design competition. Not sure if we'll make it in time, but it's a nice goal to have:
http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/ada/rules.html

Anyone use OSX and willing to do a very quick round of mac beta testing? It should be ready to test in a week or so.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Omnivox04/25/2008 - 15:48

Even though I'm no Mac user, I have one here (running OSX 10.4), so I'd be happy to see if you messed up something ;)

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Keebler04/25/2008 - 18:39

I have a mini Mac with Leopard on it.  I'd be willing to test.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?spinyanteater04/26/2008 - 02:48

I'd love to test! I have an Intel iMac and I also have access to a Macbook, both on Leopard.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?XiXora04/26/2008 - 11:28

I sure will, 1.86GHz Macbook with OSX 10.5.2

I think I'll have to buy this on Mac and Wii :p

How is it being distributed?

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?4pr1l.r41n04/26/2008 - 14:35

Hello,
i would be willing to do a mac beta test.
I have an Intel macbook pro running leopard

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?LK4O404/27/2008 - 01:21

I would love to test! I'm running OSX 10.4 (as in Tiger, I haven't upgraded to Leopard), and I'm running one of the older Mac minis, so I still have a G4 processor. Yay! :D

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?zuggzugg04/28/2008 - 23:34

Count me in for Mac testing, this is great news. I have pre-purchased and lament the fact that I have to play this game on my "work" laptop instead of my 24" iMac.

Hopefully the licensed final version is transferable between PC and Mac, will it be?

Thanks,

ZZ

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?zenpunk04/28/2008 - 23:52

I can test on Mac OS X too, if needed.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Naym05/01/2008 - 03:29

I can help you out as well if needed.  Leopard on a MacBook Intel Duo.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?VomitOnLino05/02/2008 - 05:01

Here here! *waves*

Got a MacBook Core2Duo with Leopard, and a MacPro G5 with Tiger to test it on.

I have some experience with xcode 2.0/3.0 and the developer tools as this is also my field of work.

I have played the preview on a windows PC so I can compare the expected output to the mac version.

So all of this considered I would gladly help out a fellow indie dev! :)

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?flo05/03/2008 - 19:30

Hey there :)

Got a MacBook running OS X 10.5 and would love to test. Bought the game last week and would appreciate not booting up Windows all the time ;)

Greetings, Flo.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Yol05/05/2008 - 05:18

Hello there.

If more testers are needed, then you can count me ; I can test the game on a iBook G4 1,2GHz and on a MacBook 2,4GHz, both running Leopard.

And by the way, your game is definitely awesome, I can't wait to have the final version ! Keep up doing great stuff !

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?kyle05/12/2008 - 13:08

Thanks for the volunteering, guys! We're still getting it together, so looks like we missed that mac design deadline. We hope to have something testable soon though.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Highlander05/14/2008 - 08:31

It runs nice under Paralells right now, but i've preordered with Mac version in mind.

I'd also like to help out with testing - I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.16 GHz, with 2 GB of RAM and a Radeon X1600 with 128 MB VRAM. I haven't had any luck trying to get the preview to run under Crossover, so it would be nice to finally play it!

I can help test too if you need more people. Running an iMac with Leopard.
Do the Mac and PC versions use the same Reg-code from the pre-order?

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Tialys06/20/2008 - 22:50

I've been looking in on this game for a while now, and I just noticed this thread.  Thought I'd make a post and try to get in on the beta.

Keep up the good work, this game looks like a blast!

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Huxi08/02/2008 - 09:05

I'm absolutely desperate to beta test the Mac version  ;)

I have an iMac
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.5.4

and I had little success running World of Goo using Parallels Desktop + Windows XP Pro. (gfx glitches, crashes, I even had to reboot OS X to get rid of some gfx problems after trying to play the tumbler)

Since I'm quite addicted to World of Goo right now, I have to *shudder* boot into WinXP to get my fix...

Please have mercy  ;D

Anyway, your game is brilliant and I hope you get rich and famous. This has the potential to be the next "Lemmings". I'd even buy plush-goos right now :o

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Macatttack08/15/2008 - 15:34

Is it too late? I'd like to test. I have two macs with windows on them.  :P

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?torusturtle08/26/2008 - 15:40

I'd love to take part in the beta testing!

Tried the preview on Windows with Parallels but that doesn't work very well. :-(

My configuration:
MacBook 4,1
Intel 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
Intel GMA X3100

Using MacBook screen resolution and external monitor with 1920x1200.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?hohlermann09/10/2008 - 19:23

MacBook running 10.5.4, 2.0GHz Intel Core Do, 1GB RAM, 1280x800 resolution

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?ciel09/25/2008 - 04:29

This is more for the edification of other Mac users than Kyle et al, since you have a Mac port in the pipes.

Previously, the Chapter 1 demo for PC would not run under Wine/Crossover in Leopard, since Leopard didn't support 256 color mode. However, the recent 10.5.5 update added 256 color mode support (largely because it was breaking Starcraft), which means that the PC demo runs (at least for me) under Crossover. However, there are major graphical issues (screen updates only when mouse is moved inside the window, random graphical artifacts from other places on the screen), and my magic key doesn't seem to work - I think it's not able to ping the verification server.

Has anyone else given the PC demo a shot? Have you had similar results?

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?salvo_witness09/29/2008 - 15:30

MacBook Pro running at 2.2 ghz, Leopard 10.5.4

would love to see if it is worth getting for our site where we deploy over 360 macs for middle school students. I teach game design among other parts of my multimedia class....

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Catfish10/03/2008 - 05:39

Count me in if you're still looking for testers - 15" MacBook Pro @ 2.33GHz, 2GB RAM, and a X1600.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?el-tel10/03/2008 - 11:17

I would love to take part in a beta test.

My config:
MacBook, Intel 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
OSX 10.5.5
1280x800 MacBook screen and 1680x1050 external monitor.

I can test with USB mouse as well.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?eridius10/08/2008 - 03:08

Are you guys looking for testers? I just got my pre-order download link, but I only have a Mac (I pre-ordered it because it looks great and I wanted to reward you guys for saying no to DRM and because you say the purchase will work for the eventual Mac version as well). Anyway, I'd love to beta-test.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Denour10/08/2008 - 12:34

I would also like to throw my name in the hat for the Mac Test. I don't turn on my PC nearly as much as I used to since I got my Macbook.

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
So on so on...

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?theremon10/09/2008 - 05:49

Yet another newbie, with yet another 1st post, having just received the Windows version preview link after preordering, I'd like to offer my help if needed on the Mac beta test.
I got an 20" iMac, late 2006 model (2Gb RAM, ATI X1300 256Mb, 250Gb HDD) running Leopard 10.5.5 fully patched. This is the same machine I'll use for the Windows version (bootcamp heaven)...

Oh - just got a quick question concerning the final version of the game ... As I mentioned, I preordered the Windows version and I'm waiting for release - do I have to order the Mac version seperately once it's out (or preorder it now)?

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?bennbill10/09/2008 - 09:08

I've got the windows version

But I have a Macbook (bought it in April 2008) happy to test out the OSX if you need any help

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?ChrisGrenard10/09/2008 - 11:14

I have the windows version presently, but if any help is needed I also have a Mac Mini (running pretty much default settings) and a low-power (1.8ghz single core) laptop running Ubuntu (with almost no video card to speak of).  I am very willing to test either version.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?desp10/10/2008 - 19:09

I'd gladly help out with testing.  I've been playing my pre-order in VMware, so far.

Mac OS X 10.5.5, MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?hotblack10/12/2008 - 08:39

Just ordered after a recomendation from a friend at work and playing the preview version. I use a PC at work so will be playing there until the Mac version is out (not having any luck in Parallels although I hear VMWare fairs better).

I suspect it's a bit late in the day for Mac testing and that things are pretty much wrapped up (at least I hope so). That said, if there's any last minute testing needed I have an original MacBook Pro (2.16Ghz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, X1600 Mobility w/256MB VRAM, OS X 10.4.11) and an older PPC based iBook (1.3Ghz G4, 1GB RAM, Mobility Radeon 9200 w/32MB VRAM, OS X 10.4.11)

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?jonrico10/13/2008 - 05:59

I can also test any mac versions as required - Intel based MacBook with 2GB of RAM.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Tijmen00710/13/2008 - 09:17

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?clichekiller10/13/2008 - 22:25

I don't know what the requirements are.  I'm running an old 1.33 GHz PowerBook.  I'm not even sure if you're supporting PowerPC.  But if you are I'll be happy to give it a whirl.  If not, well I've already pre-ordered / bought it from you so no loss there  ;D

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?GerryC10/15/2008 - 10:55

Downloaded the WiiWare version on release day and have been hooked! I'd be more than willing to buy a version to play on my Mac, too!

I have a PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz running Leopard.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Etohka10/15/2008 - 15:58

I'm a Wiiware WoG purchaser, but I currently have a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo 2008 iMac, 2.0ghz Core Duo iMac (the early 2006 model), and a 2007 (think its a 2.4ghz) MacBook Pro in the house.  So yeah, if y'all need more testers I'd be more than happy to put myself and the kids to work :D

And THANK YOU for doing a Mac port.  Way to go 2D Boy!

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Dante10/15/2008 - 16:19

I would give my right arm to test this on a Mac. I have a Mac Pro & and a Macbook both running Leopard.

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Etohka10/16/2008 - 15:02

I noticed some people were having difficulties or glitches with VM/Parallels/Crossover.  I loaded the Chapter 1 Demo onto a Cider-wrapper and I saw zero defects.  Its pretty easy to do and if anyone needs help I'd be more than willing.  Of course, if a mod doesn't like us talking about this just tell me to shut up :D  So far I'm loving the Wiiware version, will buy the Mac one too when it comes out.  I can't wait to see what's next guys!

Screen shot of the demo:

(using Spore demo wrapper)

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?Leeds_guy10/16/2008 - 18:38

;D

Re: Mac port, anyone want to test?buzlink10/16/2008 - 19:50
