Re: demo download | tals | 10/15/2008 - 01:18 |
So I can 'push' this at some areas I frequent. What does the demo contain. Is it effectively chapter 1?
Tals |
Re: demo download | kyle | 10/15/2008 - 01:31 |
It's all of Chapter 1 |

demo download here For some reason your download link is finished nearly instantly, but the file is broken. Not sure what is going wrong. [quote author=locomorto link=topic=378.msg2871#msg2871 date=1224058010]Another link (direct download though, woohoo!). Be nice though.

Don't get me confused, this may be a problem on my end, but I'm not sure what it is. Never experienced it.
It's now also up on my server (Direct link). Over 1 megabyte upload on a good day, 50 GB upload limit per week. Do your worst :) |
Re: demo download | kyle | 10/15/2008 - 03:53 |
Thanks guys! That should probably be enough. Yeah, the file should be about 32MB |

Ah yes, it was incomplete. I just did the lazy thing and used his link to get my copy. I have now mirrored yours, so hopefully it is all fine (its much larger now too). For references sake the md5 of my copy is now: "8790bcbb08669034761193cfe27d6ec4"

I got 1.8 MB/s! Of course, this was from my server, but still, not bad :). |
Re: demo download | Marius | 10/15/2008 - 04:14 |
The executable already has an integrity checker built-in, so the md5 is redundant, but yeah :P
*Tries his own server
Roughly 4 MB/s. (That's bytes, btw, not bits) But it's cheating, since the server is on the same university network as my computer which I download it with. I'm getting roughly 0.5 MB/s from your server, which is quite nice. How much do you get from mine?
Also, link posted on the 2 other fora I frequent, also, I'll tell my dorm mates/family to download the demo :) Last modified Wed, 10/15/2008 - 04:19 by Marius |

Well I havn't tried from my home location (Australia), because you seem very far away, and I don't normally get represenative download speeds to europe. Obviously I don't host in Australia (my bank account is too small :'(), but the 500 kB/s I get isn't too bad. When space in the other datacenter becomes available it should improve somewhat though. In any case I max out at less then 1.8 MB/s anyway unfortunately (~1.15 MB/s is about the most I get). I could get a faster plan (double, but less in practise), but these new ones count uploads plus other nasty things. When they finally finish that new cable prices should drop considerably. |
Re: demo download | Marius | 10/15/2008 - 04:44 |
Oh, I misunderstood your previous post. I thought you had gotten 1.8 MB downloading it with your computer, from your own server, but you actually got that downloading with your server from my server? Nice :D Especially since your server is all the way in Texas :P

I know, its so sad :'(. I should move to Fremont soon, which if the name means anything (its Fre-e! They wouldn't lie would they?) should make it all better. |
Re: demo download | AtomicGamer | 10/15/2008 - 08:41 |

Re: demo download | hotblack | 10/15/2008 - 16:52 |
Great news on the demo. I'm sure that getting this into the hands of people will encourage them to buy after they've tried.
Can we expect demos for the Mac/Linux versions too? |
Re: demo download | ChrisGrenard | 10/16/2008 - 11:44 |
Quick update about demo downloads:
My server had about 700-800 downloads in the first 24 hours. Among those downloaders was a site in Chinese that linked to me.
Apparently, World of Goo translates somewhat well to Chinese or something... |
Re: demo download | Yampeku | 10/17/2008 - 16:08 |

And the demo is also on Steam, even for Europe! |
Re: demo download | Anonymous | 10/18/2008 - 13:12 |
How about a linux beta demo? wouldn't that be good for testing purposes as well?
