I really think it would help if you made some way to clean members who make account and never post.  Currently we have about 3 inactives for every 2 active.  How about if you don't make a post within a week of joining, your account is auto-deleted?

Re: Forum VacuumBallisticsfood03/16/2008 - 18:37

Very true. It seems that there are people who have never posted, people that have made 1 post, people that have posted a few times, then me, you and kyle who have posted far too much than is healthy.

Even so I disagree that it should auto delete accounts unless they start to present a problem (for one reason or another). You never know, after release those inactive accounts may spring into life! Anyway, the member statistics are really for odd, lonely people who look at that kind of thing... Wait...

My hypocrisy is almost painful.

Re: Forum Vacuumkyle03/16/2008 - 18:51

Yeah they aren't hurting anyone sitting there

Dill and Ballisticsfood, want to be moderators? Things are tame right now, but we'll see what happens when the game comes out for real

<3 sure

Re: Forum VacuumThomee03/16/2008 - 23:04

Actually, there's a significant plus to having registered, even for those of us who end up only lurking: the forum tracks which posts you've read, and makes it easy to find just the new ones to catch up.  While this is only my second post, I'd be rather bummed if my account got removed for lack of posting activity.

Whoops, I totally forgot about that.  Scratch my idea of a forum vacuum.

Re: Forum Vacuumspinyanteater03/17/2008 - 04:09

Hey!

Lurking ≠ inactive

Just means we're too busy reading your posts to write anything ourselves...

Re: Forum VacuumChris Evans03/17/2008 - 06:13

So true that deleting 'inactive; accounts has little to no benefit. Keep em alive, people use them to track posts easier and may make the odd post here and there

Re: Forum VacuumDracolich03/17/2008 - 21:01

Yeah, agreed there.  Track login times but not post counts.  I have to admit I'm usually a huge lurker everywhere I hang out.  It's really only here that I've been obsessed enough to keep up somewhat with the big posters :).

Re: Forum VacuumDil99903/17/2008 - 21:14

Same here actually, I really just post alot here because I love the game and the community is still nice and small.

Re: Forum Vacuumtwincannon03/18/2008 - 01:39

I'm sure a lot of people just register just in case, or had something to say but forgot, or want the early registered date etc.

I would definitely keep a look out for spam bots though, they have a tendency to clog up members lists even if they don't post anything.

Re: Forum VacuumOoso03/18/2008 - 02:59

in some forums I like to register in order to see what is new. Lurkers should not be punished at all but encouraged to join discussions IMHO.
