CHEATBOT ALERTS: POST HEREtair00110/28/2008 - 18:36

A wee thread for people to point out potential cheaters on the leaderboards.

Here goes - there is no WAY that 'demon' achieved 700 balls on Ivy Towers.

11 certainly didn't get 450 on Leap Hole:

9 seconds, 0 moves on The Third Wheel?

Ummmm....

Ivy Towers:
1.  RU  JayFry 501 balls, 309 seconds, 82 moves

Leap Hole
1.  RU  JayFry 808 balls, 45 seconds, 15 moves

Then I believe it shouldn't be possible to have (in the most balls section) more balls than the sum of the maximum amount of balls saved for each level (should be 1350 now).

Would'nt it be smart (in the next patch, for example) to include a simple "anti-cheat" system to the game? Something like this:

- The basic information of each level would be saved in the .exe, like the maximum amount of balls and so forth. If there's a difference between the amount of balls collected and the known maximum amount, then the game would realise that the level files have been modified, and it would not send the results to the leaderboard.

- If the level was finished with 0 moves, it would be considered as cheating and the results wouldn't be sent to the leaderboard.

- If the level was finished within 2 seconds or less, it would be considered as cheating.

- Something else similiar? Maybe the level files could be checked for modification... CRC32 or something...

(cough) uhhh...what? So all that time spent perfecting the 0 move completions of Burning Man and Volcanic Percolator Day Spa (and a few others), and getting them down to 38 and 33 seconds respectively, would be considered cheating?

Controversial...

Anyway, as you've bumped this thread:

Andy, 53.6 with 251 - picture or it didn't happen.
Yaya, 49.8 with 41 - I don't know which is more ridiculous - thinking people will believe you managed it with 41 balls, or using cheats to only get yourself into second place rather than first...

Cheat recognition for 1.40 please guys!  ::)

I do not like the speed aspect of World of Goo. I have all the OCD's except for the timed ones. In fact i think i only have 1 maaaaybe 2 OCD's for time.

I hate to say it, but i was thinking of getting a program to slow World of Goo down, so that i could do those levels. (I just like the thought of flags everywhere)

In closing, i severely hate timed OCD.

Hate!

only part with doing an in-game anti-cheat is that people are most likely hacking the EXE to do it.  So they'll just override the anti-cheat!

Best way would be for the rank server to know what the limits are (ie if there's 50gb in a level, that includes everything that can be captureable, even structures), it won't accept outside those limits.  0 gb is kind of hard to determine though.  Same with time.

Actually any1 above 1377 balls is 99.99% not legit.
For some reason the game counts also player-made levels...

What? You mean you actually can finish a level with 0 moves? Didn't know that.

Check the leaderboards my friend, I'm not the only one doing it... ;)
