We've quietly made the Mac version available. If you click on your existing download link, it should give you the option to get either the windows or mac version. Those of you with Macs - does everything look ok to you?

If everything looks good, I'll announce on the front page. Thanks guys!

I thought it was already out, lmao  ;D

Other than running in 4:3 instead of 16:10, everything is good so far.  I just adjusted the config file to 1120x700.  That resolution seems to work the best.  Any plans to add some screen settings to the game?

if you dig into the bundle you can find config.txt and set the resolution to whatever you want.  we're not planning to add an in-game option for this.

When I have the res set to 1920x1200 on my 24" iMac, everything looks amazing except for the main menu; it's so big I can't click on any of the three buttons at the bottom.  Any plans to fix this?  I don't mind not having the in-game menu to change the resolution, but I would like to be able to use it at full res instead of 1120x700.

Many congrats on getting this out. It works perfectly for me :D.

What are the requirements for the Mac version, the website doesn't say?

Re: Mac version now available - shhh!jcouture11/01/2008 - 11:42

Thank you very much for your dedicated work! World of Goo is an awesome game, and I really enjoy it!

The Windows version, running under CrossOver Games 7.1.1 runs perfectly at 1440x900 on MacOS X 10.5.5, but somehow when I change the resolution in config.txt on the native Mac version, a lot of the main menu is off the screen.

Any ideas?

:D It was out sooner than I had expected, and it works like a dream on my macbook. Haven't encountered any bugs at all as yet.
It's actually a lot more difficult than I'd expected too, which is good as difficult games are always best.
Thanks Ron and Kyle!

From the readme.html hidden away inside the application bundle:

[tt]Mac: mount World of Goo.dmg and copy World of Goo to your applications directory.  System requirements are Mac OSX 10.4 or newer, a 1GHz or faster Intel or PPC processor (2GHz recommended), 512MB or more of RAM,  a 3D graphics accelerator, OpenGL 1.1 or newer..[/tt]

Re: Mac version now available - shhh!DarthBlingBling11/01/2008 - 17:05

That's a shame, I was going get my fiancé a copy for her Mac Mini, but it's sporting a rather dated OSX 10.3.9 and I highly doubt its processor is anywhere near 2GHz.

Runs Peggle fine though  :(

Re: Mac version now available - shhh!hotblack11/01/2008 - 19:17

The requirements state 1Ghz not 2ghz :) Hardware wise all Mac Mini's should be perfectly capable of running World of Goo.

As a mac user, I thank you for making this available for my wonderful lappie.

One problem, mentioned above too, the aspect ratio isn't that hot when I change the resolution to 1280x800:

Although it would be good to have proper multiple resolution support, this doesn't exist in the Windows version yet either, so I doubt we'll see it for the Mac. I know you can modify things manually via changing an ini file but that's not officially supported.

Hopefully a future update for all platforms will give official support for all resolutions. Although to be honest it plays fine at the default 800x600.

Re: Mac version now available - shhh!owen-b11/03/2008 - 06:21

Seeing as it looks pretty blocky running at whatever resolution it's at when stretched full screen on my 24" iMac, I'd deeply appreciate either an option to run in a window or a resolution change option. Seeing as 2DBoy don't seem to care about changing the resolution (huh?), how do I trigger Windowed Mode on a Mac?

Cheers!

Re: Mac version now available - shhh!ron11/03/2008 - 07:01

owen, dig into the app and you'll find a file called config.txt.  in it, you can set the desired resolution.  also, command-f will toggle fullscreen mode in case you want to play in a window.
