Well, no-one seems to have asked in a while (for one reason or another) so I thought it was time to ask our good friends Kyle and Ron how things are progressing!

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who died a little inside after the original release date of Valentines Day didn't happen...

For everyone else, post your release date guesses here! The closest guess to the actual date will win a thing!

Closest to the actual release date gets brownie points.
I guess March 15th.

I don't care too much, as long as it doesn't do a Nukem and fade Forever.

It won't disappear :) We're just making sure it's as good as possible!

I want it to be as good as possible, but I also want to see it this year.

I have been waiting for the first update to http://www.icculus.org/neverball (1.4 - the last release), and it has been open sourced, and people have been working on it - for more than 3 YEARS!!!

hopefully your first release will beat that!

Pretty sure that's the work of a dodgy free translation tool.
I doubt he was meaning it to come over as strongly as it did, but the basic gist of that is: "when is the release date, 3 months have lapsed since it was promised?".

No idea what his sources are though, I never remember a date being announced, and I've been following WoG closely for ages now.

I did register with the purpose of asking a question though: where have all the great updates gone? We were so spoiled with regular updates, now we've been hit with a month and a half drought. Can any indication at all be given on how things are progressing, or a rough estimate on a release?

Was kind of hoping that being in the final stages of development, a more accurate date range could be pinned down at least. Anyway, I'm thankful for any news we can get!

Seconded, but it may well be that being in the final stages of development, they're working on the game.

Just a thought.

I'm going to assume that came out alot more flippant than was intended.
It only takes a miniscule amount of time to make a news post, or a simple post on the forums. Community interaction and marketing is all part of the game making process. It's a little ignorant to make sweeping remarks to the contrary.

Yeah... it's now August. An update would be rather appreciated.

Re: Release Date (or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the Goo)ron08/01/2008 - 19:00

hey y'all, sorry about the lack of updates recently. you wouldn't believe the number of hours we've been putting in to finishing the game... little things like sleeping, blogging, and eating somehow fell by the wayside.

the good news is that all the levels are finally in!  the game can actually be played from beginning to end.  we're now working on cutscenes to tie the whole experience together, doing some playtesting on chapters 2-5, and putting on another layer of polish.

Re: Release Date (or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the Goo)Marius08/02/2008 - 02:06

About the putting on polish thing, just put *every picture* through the plastic filter in photoshop. Then it should look shiny!

[=6pt]Srsly tnx for the update and keep up the good work :P[/]

Ron, I love you, thanks for the update! How's Japan?

I feel vindicated.

(That was flippant too ;D)
