Backing up Important Goo Data on Wii

Is it possible to backup the Important Goo Data (ie, the save data) on the Wii?  I'm getting a "This file cannot be copied" message when I try to copy it onto an SD Card.

Since I homebrewed my PAL Wii to buy WoG from the US Wii Shop when it was released, I don't know whether that's got anything to do with it or not... can anyone else backup their save data?
