Game shuts down immediatly after starting at black screen, can't play anymore!drbag01/07/2009 - 04:18

Recently installed GOO, played game and very much enjoyed it!

Shut the game off and went to blogs and posts to see if resolution could be changed.  Some posts suggested to try changing resolution in ...txt.  After changing resolution game refused to play-after initial black screen.  The initial black screen shows evidence of the mouse arrow in game resolution, (upon moving the mouse the screen goes right to the desktop and there is no indication of the program running in the task bar).  Reset resolution to original 800 x 600 and got the same problem of black window on start-up then vanishing after moving the mouse.  Tried a few more times, game pulled the same trick.  Uninstalled game and ran system restore on computer reinstalled game; no luck dam...t!  Same problem reoccurred.

HELP! I love this game and for a short short time so did my son, but no way can we play the game on our computer anymore even after uninstall and reninstall.

anybody, any suggestions? My son loves this type of game and has been waiting for it as a Christmas present, forever, and after we played a few minutes we are now seemingly unable to ever play on this computer again.

I'm not sure if it would work, but I was getting black screen with sounds but no video on the demo.  When I changed the config file from
<param name="screen_width" value="800"/><br /> <param name="screen_height" value="600"/>
to
<param name="screen_width" value="1024"/><br /> <param name="screen_height" value="768"/>

I was able to get everything running fine.  1024x768 is also my desktop resolution, by the way.  Maybe you should set the screen width, screen height to match that of your desktop resolution?  Also, on the retail version, I think the default was
<param name="refreshrate" value="60" />
and I also changed it to
<param name="refreshrate" value="75" />
to also match my desktop screen refresh rate.  There was less flicker after this adjustment.  Hope this helps!
