For some reason WoG doesn't like the ASUS soundcards. I have Xonar D2X and it's the reason i can't start WoG.
I know its the soundcard because when i uninstall the D2X the game launches fine.
Also this guy here: http://2dboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,730.msg5325.html#msg5325 had the same problem and probably still does.
Also this guy: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/puzzle/worldofgoo/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-47038322&pid=954312. which mentions the problem was fixed when he reinstalled his sound card.
However that didn't work in my case - the game CAN run, but it did only about 2 times out of about 200 times a tried to launch the game. When it does, the sound is ok, so its a little weird that there is a problem in the first place.
- Tried all available ASUS drivers and nothing changes
- Tried all compatibility modes(i have vista)
- Tried running as administrator
- Tried disabling various stuff on the ASUS driver to try to find something specific that might be blocking the game
Nothing worked. Only uninstalling the card fixes the problem, but i have no sound :(. Sound rocks in WoG.
Any ideas?
