Linux Wont Runjacobroecker02/14/2009 - 01:46

Just downloaded the app and can't get any of the shortcuts to run.  What should information is needed to get things rolling and have some help figuring out what's up.

I'm running 8.10 with edubuntu installed.

I'm on 8.10 Ubuntu (non edu) and the demo runs fine. Try running it from the console with this command

/opt/WorldOfGooDemo/WorldOfGoo

To see if it gives any errors.

Some more information would definitely help people helping you.

What exactly are you doing? Are there any error messages? Have you checked the log the game generates? What are your system specs?

To run it in edubuntu you need the latest drivers
But remember edubuntu has some stuf cut out as it is for educational use

I have (as it appears) the same problem. Immediatly after running the command in the console I get this:

Aborted (core dumped)

Running Ubuntu 8.04. I'm going to try running it on my 8.10 desktop once I get back.

There is also a logfile at $HOME/.WorldOfGoo/WorldOfGoo.log (where $HOME is your home directory). Could you paste the top 20 lines or so from that file here?

Thanks guys!  This is great.  Once again, I didn't know what questions to ask my computer to give you guys answers.

I tried the version of running things in Terminal, with one change, I'm running the full version, not the demo.

When I run it in Terminal I get:

/opt/WorldOfGooDemo/WorldOfGoo
Segmentation fault

As far as my system goes...  well, this is my black computer.  It's not my little black computer or my wife's shiny computer--the one with the fruit on it.  Does this help?  ;-)

Just Kidding:

Here's the Data from "System Monitor"

Aha! You may not have support for OpenGL enabled. Did you install the necessary video card drivers?

Could you also paste the output of running glxinfo?

Re: Linux Wont Runjacobroecker02/14/2009 - 09:37

Activated my video driver and now I'm up and running.  Thanks folks!
