Hello,

I use Ubuntu 8.04 but I cannot install demo. I have downloaded WorldOfGooDemo.1.40.deb, World of Goo appears in the menu Games, but nothing runs. If I run the file .deb again, there is "install" but not "reinstall" as usual. Here is the last line of the message of execution :

Paramétrage de worldoggoodemo (1.40) ...

And no success message, only the button close. If I put the command "WorldOfGooDemo" I have juste the message "Abandon".

What should I do to install correctly the game ?

If it's in the games menu it is probably installed, but it may fail to run if you don't have hardware-accelerated graphics drivers installed.

Could you open a terminal and run the game by entering "WorldOfGooDemo"? Does that give any output? If there is a file called $HOME/.WorldOfGoo/WorldOfGoo.log, could you post its contents?

Thanks! It looks like you don't have OpenGL-capable video drivers installed. You should be able to do so in Ubuntu, by opening the System menu, then Administration, and then Hardware Drivers and activate one of the proprietary drivers.

Thanks for your help. I was just reading the Ubuntu documentation because I have not line in this menu. It seems I have problems with the version of my nvidia driver, but I am a newbie in Ubuntu and I must read a lot before make mistakes  ;) I will post here when I will be sure of the graphic driver.

You was right Soultaker, the problem was my nvidia driver. I have installed the package nvidia-glx-new-envy, then modify my xorg.conf, now the game runs perfectly, and it rocks !!! Thanks you for helping  ;)
