I installed demo on ubuntu 8.10 32-bit on 3 yr. old pentium 4. Mouse is very slow - 2 second lag - makes game virtually unplayable. I'm dual booting with winXP, so I installed demo on winXP and it works fine. In addition, the game loads about 10x faster on winXP. additional info: when game is loading under ubuntu, I notice "exceeding cpu quota," whereas I don't see that when winXP is loading. I'd like to buy, but I need to get demo running ok first.

You can verify this by going to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers; you should activate one of the proprietary drivers to get good graphics performance. that was easy - I installed proprietary drivers and it seems faster than winXP now. thanks.
