Game doesn't start anymore on Mandriva 2009.0Morgoth03/04/2009 - 13:34

Hi,

The game usually worked fine with my config:
- Mandriva 2009.0 64bit
- ATI Radeon 4850 with fglrx

Since update to fglrx 8.58.2 [Feb 4 2009] the game doesn't start anymore. I tried running it from a terminal and I only received "Abord" message.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

I'm guessing you broke your graphics drivers.

Could you post the contents of the logfile (at $HOME/.WorldOfGoo/WorldOfGoo.log)?
What do you see when you type glxinfo | grep direct on the command line?

[t=0.00] InhibitGnomeScreensaver constructor: couldn't execute "gnome-screensaver-command"!
[t=0.00] Loading persistent data...
[t=0.00] Locale fr_FR.UTF-8 matched to language fr.
[t=0.00] Primary language: fr

that's all.

# glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

That still looks like non-functional graphics drivers. The situation is a bit more complex than usual because you're using a 64-bit OS; you will need 32-bit graphics drivers that match with the 64-bit X server. Do you have any other 32-bit application installed that use OpenGL? Do these work?

Could you tell me what are the required 32 bit libraires?

I don't think I have any other 32bit game. Tell me if there is one you think about I can easily install.

Also, perhaps could you provide a 64 bit build of WorldOfGoo (this is just a suggestion, I don't know anything of the complexity)?

Thanks and regards

You should be looking for 32-bit ATi drivers, but which package they come in varies between operating systems.

The demo for the Penny Arcade game comes to mind, or maybe TA spring or even OpenArena...

That's not very likely to happen, unfortunately.
