hey is there a way to donload the linux version of this game after I bought it through steam?  It works on the Windows box just fine, but I'd also like to get it to work on the linux box as well.

Yes.  First download the Linux demo and install it.  Then copy the res directory and the *.bin files in the properties directory from your Windows World of Goo installation directory to your Linux one (for steam users it should be <your steam install folder>\steamapps\common\world of goo).  Now the Linux demo should be the full game.
