What ports need to be open?JJNH03/30/2009 - 21:50

Hi, I'm trying to make sure I've got all the right ports open so that I can see other people building in the World of Goo Corporation. I'm having a very hard time finding out which ones it uses because if you search for "world of goo" and ports, all that comes up is information about the linux "port" of the game.

Anyone know which ports to open on my router?

The game doesn't use any privileged ports. It does communicate with the server over https, so you need to allow outgoing https connections, which are regular TCP connections to port 443. The local port is variable, but only the strictest of firewalls should have a problem with that. If you haven't configured your router to filter network traffic, then the usual network address translation (NAT) should handle this transparently.

Are you sure that the router is the problem? Are you normally able to connect to secure websites, and if so, do you use a proxy server for that? If that's the case, then you'll need to configure the game to use the same proxy settings. Here is some info on how to do that.
