???
I didn't find any info to this topic in the forums yet so BEWARE
I just uninstalled the game and it did delete lots of other games too...! I can't get them back. Here is how it went:
I like the game and wanted my girlfriend to play it, too! So I went to her pc and installed the game to her \games\ directory.
Time went by and when it finished it went and saw I chose the wrong directory. In that diectory there were some other game-folders: \games\game1\ \games\game2\ \games\game3\ also all the goo-files from the recent installation: \games\goo-file1 \games\goo-file2 \games\goo-file... Okay this is wrong I thought. I wanted it all to go to \games\World of Goo\goo-files I don't know if I can just move the files after installation so I wanted to be perfectly sure and first unsinstall this installation, then install it to the correct directory \games\World of Goo\ This was an easy choice as the installation is a fairly quick process. After doing both uninstallation and reinstallation, I found Goo in \games\World of Goo\ as expected. Fine. Then I saw a bad thing:
All other games from \games\ were gone, too!!1!oneeleven :(
I looked everywhere, junk box, other folders nearby, nothing to be found.
My girlfriend is understandably mad at me right now and I sincerely ask for any help possible.
Please.
My relationship is in trouble! |
Apparently the uninstaller deleted the entire installation directory, not just the files that were specifically installed there. I'm afraid there is nothing to be done about it now. |
!. Say you're sorry, if you haven't already done so. 2. Say that you need to talk to her tomorrow; if she's okay with it. 3. Reinstall all the games and beat them as fast as you can; if you're sure you went to the right directory. It might take you all night, but it's what I always do. Remember, StickyMOM67 knows best. |
If you have a recent backup, you can just copy back the files from the backup. Or, if you have some sort of backup/system restore program running, you can try reverting back.
If you don't have a backup, there's not much else you can do. You can reinstall all the games (the game's save files are likely stored in a different directory, so that shouldn't matter). You can also try to recover the deleted files as described here: http://lifehacker.com/393084/how-to-recover-deleted-files-with-free-software
