Hi, I purchased this from Steam. When I try launching, it just goes straight into a black screen and kicks me back to the desktop. It does not show up in the task manager afterwards.

I should meet the specs for this game.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have always wanted to try this game. I have heard great things and the sale on steam made it too good of a deal to pass up. It's too bad I haven't been able to play it though...

Are you using ThreatFire anti-virus/firewall? That's probably what causes it. It's a known bug with their software, but unfortunately they never fixed it. (Or maybe you aren't using the latest version?)

There are some suggestions to working around the problem here:
- Crashes on Boot in Vista-32 (Threatfire Stops World of Goo!)
The best solution would be to add an exception for World of Goo in the Advanced Controls window, if you're using the stand-alone version of the game, but since you got it from Steam, the best option seems to be to stop ThreatFire before running World of Goo.

Thanks for the solution. I did have threatfire installed. Uninstalled it and it works perfectly now. Enjoying it immensely so far.
