Steam version on 64-bit linux

Steam version on 64-bit linux | dain | 09/15/2009 - 12:21 |
I purchased the Steam version of World of Goo, and saw that it is possible to run it under linux by installing the demo and overwriting the res folder (I read it somewhere on this site I believe). However, this does not seem to be the case with the 64-bit version. Is there any way (if it's even allowed) to run the native 64-bit linux version of World of Goo using the res files from the Steam game?

Just install 1.41 patch! ;)

I'm not quite sure of what you mean. I installed the 1.41 linux demo (64-bit), and I believe the Steam copy is up to date as well, as Steam automatically updates its games. I don't think I have access to a full linux version or patch of 1.41 since I purchased the game via Steam.

The link you provided seems to have the available demo versions, but no patches (which I haven't been able to find anywhere so far). Also, if I start by installing the demo for 1.41 (linux) and add the res files from the windows version, wouldn't patching the (modified) 1.41 version with a 1.41 patch be meaningless? I don't mean to question you, I'm sure you know a lot more about this game than I do. I'm just trying to understand how this whole thing works. ;D

I see. Oh well, thanks for your help nonetheless! I guess I'm stuck playing WoG on my Windows PC for now. |
