How about a log? In your WoG program folder, there should be a file called "crash.txt". Paste it here. BTW, what does the error look like? A "X" icon for the window? A whole bunch of dump text in a box with a flat-ish button below that? Just checking because I don't know if it's issued from WoG or Windows.

Re: faltal error???the lion12/20/2009 - 11:59

i think it is windows that is the problem and here is the crash text u wanted.

How much RAM do you have? And are you trying to run a Steam version without launching it from Steam? Those are the two commonest problems regarding memory access violations.

Re: faltal error???the lion12/21/2009 - 03:39

i have 2 ram  and  i am going to steam and starting the game from there

Re: faltal error???GMMan12/21/2009 - 16:48

2 RAM... as in 2 GB of RAM? And did you buy WoG from Steam? If you did, there's your problem.

Re: faltal error???the lion12/22/2009 - 06:36

yes 2 gb ram and yes i did buy it from steam. oh well :(

Re: faltal error???GMMan12/22/2009 - 14:55

Yeah, quite unfortunate. But you can free yourself from the Steam monster. Just install the 1.3 patch into your Steam\steamapps\common\world of goo folder to upgrade. You won't get achievements, but you'll get a less buggy and untethered version of World of Goo.

GMMan, I don't quite understand what you mean by the Steam version being the problem.  I bought the game through Steam a long time ago, and it works just fine.

For some reason, I'm having the same problem, but with the Games for Windows Live version:http://2dboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,2371.0.html

Does the 1.3 patch fix the "Fatal Error!" problem?

Do you have the ThreatFire turned on? Try disabling it and see what happens. That goes for 'the lion' as well...

Re: faltal error???scarritt12/24/2009 - 09:49

No, I don't have anything called ThreatFire.  lol and I don't know what "the lion" is.

Re: faltal error???Pavke12/24/2009 - 10:12

the lion is the on who made this thread in the firs place ;)

ThreatFire is anti spyware/malware program like SpyDoctor. If you have any of those uninstall it, disabling in might not work.

and...

1. try running the game under an account that has administrative privileges.

2. make sure your sound device is enabled.  in windows vista the sound device is automatically disabled if no speakers or earphones are connected.

Re: faltal error???scarritt12/25/2009 - 09:33

I uninstalled avast! (my trial was over anyway), and I am the adminstrator, and my sound device is working properly.  As I pointed out in my own post, my Steam version works perfectly, for some reason my GFWL version is the one doing this.

Re: faltal error???Pavke12/25/2009 - 10:00

Maybe you can have more then one version of WoG on your PC? Try uninstalling Steam version. I'm out of ideas... ???

Re: faltal error???Goo Goo Dolls12/25/2009 - 14:52

I've had the same prob.  I checked the READ ME & it said it Was compadible for XP & Vista.  Guess it won't work.  Srry.  :'(
