Post it here. They are all slightly different errors, and having lots of topics about them or posts on other threads is a tad pointless.
By the way, the above error is one I got. |
Re: Access Violation Errors | kyle | 03/06/2008 - 14:48 |
what were you doing when you got the error? |
Re: Access Violation Errors | Dil999 | 03/06/2008 - 16:04 |
Got it as the game was closing. Basically it didn't effect anything since it crashed when I was trying to exit the program anyways, but it may help you guys find out whatever is causing them.

I was playing through Fisty's bog. And it's a truly clever plan to write down what you were doing when you got the error too...

I get the following error when starting the game, it happens before even a window or fullscreen gets drawn. Here is my computer's specs:

Re: Access Violation Errors | kyle | 03/10/2008 - 01:25 |
If you get that error when starting the game, some people have solved it by installing the latest drivers for their video card. nvidia should have them on their site. Does that work? |
Re: Access Violation Errors | Drakfyre | 03/10/2008 - 04:54 |
Unfortunately, a driver update didn't help. Still can't run the game. I am now at nVidia driver version: 169.61 |
Re: Access Violation Errors | drakfyre | 03/13/2008 - 19:25 |
I am sorry to sound naggy, but I still haven't been able to even start the game on my computer. I've tried reinstaling it, I tried updating my graphics drivers, are there any other suggestions as to what to try? Is there any more info I can give you guys to help you? |
Re: Access Violation Errors | kyle | 03/13/2008 - 19:46 |
Hmm... And all the anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-everything is turned off as well?
Thanks for letting us know about this, we absolutely need to fix that for the game's release. Could you send us your dxdiag log? (Start->Run->"dxdiag" then "Save All info...") If you still can't get the beta preview to work, you can wait for the game's "official" release, or we can refund you. |
Re: Access Violation Errors | Drakfyre | 03/14/2008 - 01:11 |
No antivirus installed, just FYI.
I've generated the DxDiag file, where should I send it? And please, no need to refund me, I'll hold out for the full release, betas are meant to have bugs, and I know from personal experience that diverse hardware testing is quite difficult for a small developer. I may try more dramatic testing this weekend to make sure once and for all it's not on my end (Reformat party, woo!) |
Re: Access Violation Errors | kyle | 03/14/2008 - 03:58 |
Thanks for the diag help :) paste the dxdiag into our contact form at http://2dboy.com/contact.php and make sure to say who you are! |
Re: Access Violation Errors | Drakfyre | 03/15/2008 - 16:48 |
Thanks, sent, sorry that took so long. Also, I found one more piece of interesting info: when I recently plugged in my computer to my projector, and turned off my laptop's screen, the game ran! It still doesn't run on my machine by itself, but it seems I can play it on an external monitor. Hope that helps. |

I just replied to an email discussion I had with Ron about this (or at least a similar bug) before I saw this thread. Anyway here's my error:

P.S. - I have a macbook pro. It seems many of the posts in this thread, users have laptops? |
Re: Access Violation Errors | kyle | 03/15/2008 - 23:44 |
That's interesting - both people seeing this problem have a macbook. Does anyone else with a macbook have this problem? How did you solve it? Do updating video drivers help? Is it always the case that it works if you connect the computer to an external monitor, but not if you use the built-in screen? |
Re: Access Violation Errors | Brandon | 03/16/2008 - 18:43 |
I have a Vista 64-bit desktop with multiple monitors. I just updated my graphics cards' drivers to no avail. |
Re: Access Violation Errors | ron | 03/17/2008 - 12:15 |
looks like we have two macbook pro users with this bug. are there any macbook pro users out there that aren't seeing this problem? |
