Hello 2d boys and girls,

I've purchaased WoG 1.41 .deb package for Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit). The display is very slow, right from the begining when i launch the game. The Goo mouse pointer reacts this way too, etc. When I had the demo I was still running on ubuntu 9.10 and the display was perfect.
I don't know whether the problem is due to the ubuntu update or having the full game instead of the demo, or something else but it is very frustrating not to be able to play such a good game for linux !

I've tried desactivating compiz, low resolutions, no changes...

I've also heard that the internet connection could slow the game down because of some servers being down... How could i check it ?

I suspect you might not have installed the appropriate display drivers for your video card. Try going to System, then Administration, then Hardware Drivers. What options are available there? Which is selected?

What kind of video card do you have?

(The fact that the game did run correctly on Ubuntu 9.10 suggests that the problem is with the configuration of your new OS, not your hardware or the game itself.)

Hello,

My card is a Radeon X300 PciE. ATI no longer supports my graphics card (no prorietary drivers in the hardware drivers) but since ubuntu 9.10 the open source driver works great, I still have open arena working fine on Lucid.

Nevertheless there could be some configuration problem somewhere, but I don't know where to look.
Is there a log or something I could copy down to be checked ?

I just tried open arena again and it has the same slow effect too ! Maybe it's since an update or when I added a new resolution for my desktop to the xorg.conf file. It could be that...
If I show you my xorg.conf file would you be able to detect a problem ?

I don't think that helps... you could try running the game in a window or running at your native resolutions, by tweaking the settings at /opt/WorldOfGoo/properties/config.txt

Also, there is a log file at $HOME/.WorldOfGoo/WorldOfGoo.log, but I don't think it will contain a lot of useful information for your problem.

Maybe check your driver again. It could have somehow become deactivated.

I'll try and sort the problem out with the Ubuntu forum because it's more to do with Ubuntu than WoG.
