tell us now so we can fix it!

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereJossiRossi03/05/2008 - 02:43

I wouldn't be surprised if this already known, or even fixed by now, but there is sometimes a glitch in wall detection while holding a goo. I think it tends to happen most when a wall is comprised of more than one wall unit. This happens most commonly on the Chains level. If you pick up a goo and try to slowly move him from one pit to the other through the wall it won't pass through the barrier. However if you move the mouse really quickly it'll jump through the wall. My guess is that it's slipping in and around the edges of the pieces of the wall. This likely is limited to either thin walls or the segmented ones if that's actually how that particular wall is built.

Oy!

Exactly what happened to me!

Did you also manage to get a ball (green, for me) stuck inside a wall?

The gooballs in walls problem has already been noticed and, I think and hope, sorted.

Have a nice day

GAME CRASHED...  :(

There's been a few people shouting up errors like this one as well. I'm sure 2dboy has a solution for when the game is released.

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereHellspark03/05/2008 - 16:02

Word.

Update:

36th tallest tower in the world FTW !!

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereDil99903/05/2008 - 16:10

That error occurs for me when you alt+tab your way out of the game.

?Bug? - Sometimes in WOGCo, I find when removing some balls I get the occasional uberball.  This ball is totally normal, but is 2 to 4 times the size of normal balls.  It doesn't effect gameplay, but it looks weird as hell.

Another bug:  If you try to exit back to the island just before the cinematic at the end of the last level, you will have the buttons from the menu but it will also be displaying the cinematic.

nice finds, we didn't now about either of them, thanks!

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereMarius03/26/2008 - 23:02

If I backup my pers.dat, I show up twice on the leaderbord. Once with the old score, once with the new one.

Edit: New bug: If I Make a new highscore on a level, it shows the time of the old highscore. I checked this by doing level 1 in over a minute, but the new score still showed 16 seconds (They were clearly different scores though: Ordering by most recent showed 1 score first, then 2).
This makes it impossible to compete on time to complete the level. I'm not sure if this is a bug in the game, or in the leaderboard.

Bug: If, when in a level, you click esc, then "restart level", then during the animation/loading press esc, then "back to island", the game crashes.

Probable cause: Esc is only ignored when starting a level for the first time, not when restarting it.

Edit:
Bug: If I break down the starting triangle in goo corp, it shows my height as 34028235931503. (See attachment)

Probable cause: It can't find "The highest goo".

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereDil99904/30/2008 - 17:21

When exactly does it do it?

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it herekyle04/30/2008 - 17:49

Hey GryMor, try deleting or renaming your pers.dat file. It may have become corrupt. More info here http://2dboy.com/faq.php

If that works, could you email me your pers.dat file so we can see how it broke? Thanks!

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereGryMor04/30/2008 - 22:22

It was crashing at startup, before the window even showed up.

Moving pers.dat fixed it. Link to the broken one has been sent.

I've had that happen once too only I never took apart the triangle when it happened.

P.S. When it doesn't show clouds the second I reach at least 5.0 meters it crashes. :(

I've got to agree with marius.  It's fine if you use formatting (and smilies) occasionally, but if you use them as much as you are it just makes the forum hard to read.  Stuff like that is really meant for the Pictures of Your Cat subforum.  The other 3 sections are meant for serious discussion, and filling them up with offtopic chatter makes the threads difficult to comprehend.
I modified most of your previous posts so they can be read, and I'll probably delete/move all of the offtopic posts made by me, you, and marius in this thread once this conversation ends.

A Japanese guy with no name is on top of the Going Up highscore. He has used 0 time and 0 moves. Either his game broke, or he broke the highscore upload deliberately...

Re: if stuff breaks, write about it hereAntoineG08/13/2008 - 04:07

Hello

I've noticed a few bugs on my version of the game, which seems to be v1.17.

ID : # 1
Type : freeze / crash
Severity : high
Reproduction rate : 100%
Steps to reproduce :
On level completion, when the flush falls down, launch the menu and click on restart instead of flushing the goos.
Notice that the game is freezed (it has been observed that sometimes, the camera still moves back to the centre of the screen, as usual). Still possible to exit by killing the process manually.

ID : #2
Severity : high (see bug #3)
Reproduction rate : 30%
Type : animation broke.
Description : On some levels, specially, tumbler, and the one in which you have to climb with green ones (edit: ivy tower), when you move the mouse to fast when picking up a goo-ball, you can have the picking-up sprite stuck in the hand.

[img=http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4107/oupspb7.th.png]

ID : #3
Type : physic panic
Severity : high
Reproduction rate : one time (going to try again)
Related bug : #2
Description : on keeping the broken goo (see bug #2) in the hand, it can be observed that the green part keeps growing, growing, for 20', and then, the goo pops out of your hand with great velocity, and the other goos become crazy and every thing shacks, shacks, and the camera shacks, OMG it's an earthquake.
Note : Wanted to take a screenshot, but I had to past the previous one. The application did not survive going back from windows.

ID : #4
Type : eye candy
Reproduction rate : 100%
Severity : low
Description :
On completing a level another time, trying to beat the record to get more goo balls (I want mooooore), the user receives the same visual feedback as the first time. As the road was allready open, perhaps this effect is superfluous.

I love this game :D

Bugs #1, #2 and #3 were all found in the early beta testing (thanks for still reporting them though) as for #4:

I think he is saying when you complete the level and it goes back to the island it shows the animation for the path opening up as if it's being opened for the first time.
