Trying to get this to run on my laptop: WinXP Pro - SP1 P4 1.6GHz 512Mb RAM S3 SuperSavage DirectX 8.1
Since there is no min requirements that I can find, should it work? I'm not too sure about the graphics card though.
Help please, really want to play!!!

The minimum requirements are:
Quote: # upported OS: Windows® XP or Vista # Processor: 1GHz or faster # Memory: 512+MB RAM # Video: Any 3D graphics accelerator less than 5 years old # DirectX® Version: 9.0c # Hard Drive: 100MB
So... First of all UPDATE your Windows XP to SP3 and update your grapchis card. |
Thanks for the info. Can't put SP3 on that machine or it'll be too slow. Will try to get DirectX 9 going, but if not will use something else. Thanks. |
Vista 32 bit, 4 gigs ram, geforce 8800gtx, all drivers up to date. I do have threatfire on this pc - i read somewhere someone else had an issue with it.
Anyone have any luck?
I start the shortcut off the desktop - screen goes black and then after about 60 secs it gives a fatal error message.

Today, while playing at the WoG Corp., i got a fatal error like the above. Kept the log file to post it later and forgot it. Well, here is mine...

It happened just once (the last 2 days, since i got it) and the only problem i had after re-opening the game was that i lost the tower i was building at this time. No big deal, hopefully. I'll rebuilt it, more stable this time...
EDIT: I have an Intel Core2Duo 2.53GHz, 2GB Dual RAM, NVidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Dx9.0c, WinXPSP2. Last modified Tue, 10/14/2008 - 18:38 by soad667 |
Update on my laptop... Loaded DirectX 9c and now get something like: "Could not find any compatible Direct3D devices" I'm guessing this is a no go for the onboard graphics with the laptop.
I would suggest however, detection of DirectX9c is included in the loader which would allow a sensible error message to be returned. I fully understand this is tricky as there is a huge range of hardware/software compared to consoles.
Also the min requirements should be made clear before purchase (I'm fortunate to be able to use another laptop).

in the cases we've seen so far, this is an issue caused by anti-malware software or firewall software. if you have anti-virus or anti-malware software, try disabling it. threatfire and look'n'stop are both known to cause crashes like this (threatfire actually needs to be uninstalled in order for the game to run, disabling isn't enough).
also, check out this post for the firewall issue: http://2dboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,246.msg3013.html#msg3013 Last modified Fri, 01/16/2009 - 10:53 by ron |
