I know I have posted this to every support, forum and even personal mail to 2D boy, but I didn't got any response yet.So I apologize and post it also here. Maybe someone knows solution already.

issue:
Profiles won't save because of the name of 'application data' folder. In czech version of windows XP it is named 'data aplikací'. It seems that the game cant handle the " í ".

I repost it because that thread was related to another issue and this was just offtopic mention with no solution.

I tried editing registry, but it wont help. It still points to the bad folder.

It really makes me sad :(

I have this problem too. I tried removing the read-only flag from WorldOfGoo folder as someone suggested but windows will not let me do that. It keeps resetting to read-only. It would be great if it was possible to change the save folder in config file.

Uz jsem psal maila Ronovi s popisem chyby a sliboval, ze to opravi jen co se trosku uklidni silenstvi kolem vydani verze... Tak holt musime chvili pockat... Puvodni Preview verze chodila ok, nevim jak ted vydane demo. Kdyztak mi napiste PM.

Its some kind of problem between conversion from ascii to utf8... Patch will be out soon, they say :D

it doesn't work with steam version.

It works with current pre-order updated version. It changes "home" folder from "All users\%appdata%\2Dboy" to "All users\%documents%\2DBoy"

Documents are "Dokumenty" in Czech, so WoG is running fine.

I'm not patch creator, but it looks like it change WinApi function parameter to better one (for us).

I have a swedish version of xp and for some reason my c:\documents and settings\ is called c:\användare\ (it means users in swedish) and I think I can't create the pers2.dat and save because of the "ä" in "användare" just as the czech "í" in "data aplikací" or whatever the czech problem was. This fix still puts the save-folder AFTER my "ä" so it doesn't help me! Can someone please help me with this, can someone in some way modify the worldofgoo.exe or the fix so that my save-directory is placed somewhere completely else, or tell me how to do this?.. Where there are no stupid non-english letters? =) It's driving me nuts! Thanks.

My god, you are fantastic, man! :D I was just about to change the name of my Användare(documents and settings)-folder, move all user profiles and edit the registry to point everything to the new location, which probably would have screwed up my Windows completely.
