Well yeah...
I'm running on a VISTA 64bit machine.

Quad Core, 2.4GHz
4GB Ram
Geforce 9800GTX

...

When are you getting this? When trying to start the game? Or somewhere when playing?

On startup. (doubleclick -> bam, error!) :)
Got the latest drivers for my graphic card and the latest DirectX (even 9.0c) for Vista

I found something.
Somehow it says : "Windows Ver: NT 6.0 Service Pack 1 Build 6001"
at the end...but I'm running a VISTA64bit version. weird

Don't worry about "Windows Ver: NT 6.0 Service Pack 1 Build 6001"
That's just what it is called under the hood, I guess in case they changed the product name of Vista at the last min etc, it is the same for XP.

in the cases we've seen so far, this is an issue caused by anti-malware software or firewall software.  if you have anti-virus or anti-malware software, try disabling it.  threatfire and look'n'stop are both known to cause crashes like this (threatfire actually needs to be uninstalled in order for the game to run, disabling isn't enough).
