This occurs at the end of any level after the scores have been given.  So I can still progres through the game, but have to restart it after each level. None of the stuff I've found here or on google fixes this.

I'm using Win 7 x64, downloaded from Windows Live, but not sure if this is the most recent version of the game.  No game version seems to be given anywhere...

Like other people, had no problems the first time I ran the game.  Restart of computer did not work. Turning off internet did not work. Setting various files to Read Only does nothing.  Reinstall with Windows live does not work.

I'm frustrated that I seem to have a unique occurrence of this bug, and that problems with the msvcr90.dll / error 299 have evidently been around for at least a year, without anything official being stated for fixing this.
???

Well fsck.

I can't get past the last stage of chapter 1 due to this bug.

Presumably I can modify the level progress file, to get around this though?

That really sucks. :(

Doesn't Windows 7 have a Windows XP compatibility mode? Did you try if the game works if you run it that way?

I found that I don't encounter the bug with a new save-file.  I don't have time to play enough to find out if the bug will repeat itself, though.  (I should never have installed WoG during end of semester)
