I still haven't found out why the game doesn't want to connect to the game server. All my other apps work fine, and the game connects also from another computer without problems, but only on this machine, it doesn't. I also disabled the firewall, without any success. Does anyone else have this problem, too?

I have the same exact problem. I just gave up.

Here is a dump of the occuring network connections when I press the "Connect" button in the Goo Corporation:



The first four rows occur on this try (the green ones). There is no connection going "out" at all.

The last four rows (red ones) occur if I connect from my webbrowser to worldofgoo.com.

Thanks ooso, are you behind a proxy? worldofgoo.com's ip is 74.220.217.98, and it looks like all but one of those connections are connecting to some local (local to your intranet) host, even the web browser.

Blahblah, are you behind a proxy? It's a known issue right now that if you have to configure your browser etc to use a proxy, the game won't be able to validate. This won't be an issue for the full game since we won't be requiring validation. Thanks for helping us figure this out guys!

I have not proxy configured, but I use the company's network. No problem with the browser, though.

I have the same issues at home, the game doesn't want to connect, browser is fine. The other computer at home connects just fine.


I have no idea what could cause this issue. Do you have a tool you want me to use for further diagnostics?

There must be some local configuration on the computer to cause this failure. My hosts-file contains only
"127.0.0.1      localhost".

Could your computer be trying to route through your company's VPN?

every other application can connect correctly, and my VPN connection is not even activated.

I will try to connect from home this evening and post the same info as above.

your company could block the port that's needed.  Wouldn't surprise me.  :)

what we've seen with VPNs in the past is that if you have VPN connection but it is not connected the game will not be able to connect even if you have another internet connection that IS working.  try connecting to the VPN and see if it works then.

sounds like it's seeing the VPN connection first & ignores the rest.  Like if you have dialup & direct connection, the dialup never gets used by default, you need to manually use it.

How can i run the game on the PC without Internet connection.?
I just trying replase the pers.dat from other computer - and when i launch the game, there is a message with registration  requiring.

for now, you have to enter the magic key on every machine you install the game on, copying pers.dat will not work around that.  once you enter it everything should be ok.  as for running the game without an internet connection, you just have to have an internet connection when you enter the license key.  after you enter it once you can play the game offline.

I know that it is necessary to enter a key once only! But I on this computer do not have Internet and think that never will be ((

;D It's simple when I had that problem I just tried again it really worked all you have to do is click on the connect button.^^

But IIRC you need to activate the game at the first start, and need a net connection there.
