Unable to update my version of Goo?Whiterabbit-uk03/22/2008 - 18:28

After finally getting my activation code to bve recognised and managing to play through several levels I decided to close down the game for a break.  Upon returning I was met by a screen asking me if I wished to get the latest update.  Clicking on okay basically froze my computer up and I had to close it down by using the reset button.  Using the Cntrl, Alt Del keys didn't work.  I tried doing this several times with the same result, so had to decline the update.  I'd made sure all my firewalls and other security was turned off to ensure that I could make contact with the goo servers.

The computer I'm using is a recent build with a 3.2GHz dual core, a NVidia 8800 GTS 640Mb card and 4GB of RAM

I think there is a bug in the updater. Ron might have more info, but he says the version of the game that is available for download is already up to date and shouldn't need to update.

To fix it, try re-installing - your progress should be saved (but you can back up pers.dat just to be safe if you want). If it asks you to update, say "no". Let us know if that helps!

2d boy uses the Microsoft solution to getting things to work: say NO to required updates!  ;)

Well, sort of. There IS no update. The downloaded version is the latest version. The updater detector has some bugs apparently.
