I bought the game through the macheist bundle, but I've found that I can't play it because of the lack of a mute button. I only play games while listening to music, and since all my music is in itunes...

Please add a mute function.

People have been bugging Kyle and Ron about that for months.
If we overload their inboxes, then they might release a patch...

i have the same problem, i listen to podcasts and music and that stuff.  What i do, i just listen to my ipod while playing and mute my computer.  if you're worried about battery, just plug it in  :).  it's not perfect, as if you have stuff on your computer thats not on your ipod, you cant listen to that.  but another solution is, if you are listening to a spoken word bit (i.e. podcast or audiobook) then you can add a volume adjustment (right click, get info, options, volume adjustment slide to right) and you can listen to the podcast while the world of goo music is going on if you can get it louder than the game music.  Just a suggestion, that's what i've been doing with mine.  but really, it is a problem that there isn't a mute or volume control on world of goo.  i hope 2d boy gets this fixed...

This is exactly what I came here to find out about and it seems I am not the only one who would like an in-game volume control, or at least a mute button, so I could listen to other things while playing.

Mac user who loves the game but hates having to lose all other audio just to play the game.

I don't know... I am the only Dragavan that I ever seen on the net... so odds are if you see a Dragavan somewhere else it's me.

The in-game music is good, at least...

Re: Mute on macmoshisushi07/18/2009 - 07:39

Here's a little hack for y'all (mac only):

Please do not use this unless you know what you're doing :)

1. Download http://www.soundsystem.se/moshisushi/wog_mock_music.zip to your desktop
2. Unzip it
3. Now copy the entire "World of Goo" application (I will assume that it's located in /Applications) and rename the copy "World of Goo no music"
4. Open Terminal.app
5. In the terminal:

$ cd /Applications/World\ of\ Goo\ no\ music.app/Contents/Resources/game/res
$ mv music music.bak
$ cp -r ~/Desktop/wog_mock_music/music .

6. Start some playlist in your favorite audio player, open "World of Goo no music" and enjoy the custom World of Goo experience!

I’m with everyone here. Some options are much needed.

All i ask is a music slider & SFX slider. If i wanna listen to my iTunes pretty loud, i’ll have to turn up my system volume, which then makes WOG unplayable (Because its so darn loud!)

Thanks @moshisushi for making that mute pack, i was about to do this, luckily i checked here first. :D

This thread didn't show up when I searched last night, so I recreated it slightly differently over here:

Moshisushi's solution is probably better for switching between sound and no sound, but my version keeps only one copy of the application and provides the satisfaction of executing two for loops.
