I don't understand why this game isn't on STEAM. I think expanding your market to about 16 million more users is a good business move.

Also, steam achievements....steamworks, come on, Valve pretty much did the job for you.

There's plenty of people on the forums there that will simply not buy your game if its not on steam including me.

I believe the game is coming to steamworks- someone else on the forums posted some good evidence a few days ago.

and there's plenty of people who won't buy it if steam's the only option.

Some people would say 16 million people can't be wrong.  Have they looked @ wallstreet lately?  Same thing (buying something you don't physically own)!!!  :D :D :D

go buy the game aready.  it's worth more then anything on steam.  Plus you don't NEED steam to run it.  Or get the wiiware version.  4 player MP.

What about Adkins? Oh...right...he died of a heart attack, didn't he?...

Anyway, yeah, I hate Steam's policies and how I don't really OWN what I payed for and how offline play somehow won't work, but I still bought Audio Surf, the Orange Box and Geometry Wars (even if the last one was a rip off because the clone Grid Wars was BETTER and free). It's better to love play and lose than to have never played.

Playing offline works fine here, and as for "owning a game", you never did, not when you purchased a game in the store, and not when you purchase it on steam, you merely license it.

Anyways there's no reason why both should be mutually exclusive, having a wide variety of purchase options isn't a bad idea for anyone.

World of Goo Emerges on Steam

October 10, 2008 - World of Goo, the independent title from 2D BOY that swept top honors at this year's Independent Games Festival, will make its North American PC debut on October 13, 2008 via Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games with over 15 million accounts worldwide.
Recipient of the IGF Design Innovation and Technical Excellence Awards, World of Goo is a physics-based puzzle/construction game made entirely by two guys working out of coffee shops in San Francisco. You may drag and drop living, squirming, talking, globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of Goo Balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore - but they don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious.
The Steam PC edition of World of Goo will feature eight Achievements enabled by Steamworks, a complete suite of publishing and development tools available free of charge.
"More people have told us to get World of Goo on Steam than any other title coming this year," said Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve. "It has captured the imagination of the press and other members of the industry during its incredible pre-launch campaign, and we're delighted to debut the PC version with Steamworks Achievements."
