Shadow was our first cat. A poor feral kitten upon which we took pity. Or so we thought. Once she knew she could trust us, she introduced us to her four kittens. And thus began our ongoing saga of acquiring strays.

What a cute cat. So you've started collecting strays? How many cats do you have now?

Somewhere between six and eight, depending upon how we count them. Six for sure. Then there are two ferals who have starting eating the food we leave outside and snoozing on the various comfy perches we've set up on the patio. One of those has snuck inside a few times to get food out of the indoor dish and will occasionally let my paramour pet him.

That's probably the deciding factor for me: if they don't run away when we try to pet them then they've become part of the family.
