hello

pre-purchased world of goo and trying to be patient...
however, while waiting, i've stumbled upon a great little indie game called SPUDS by
an indie co. called Bog Turtle Games.

anyone else tried this?  just curious what everyone thinks.
great little strategy/puzzle game.

and also been playing SunAge.  great independent game as well.  don't let the low ratings fool you.  its been updated/fixed and is a great RTS.

anyone else have any indie suggestions or unusual titles?

later.

Hmms.. lets see..

Gish is good, especially 2 player. I once played a series of 2 player games against someone for about 10 hours straight and only noticed when my little finger started to creak.
Flipside if you own HL2 is hilarious.
Polarity. Mmm.. Floaty goodnesses.
And Rumble box from Digipen is good fun too.
Steam Brigade is nice, it's awesome if you like steampunkery and want a simple 2d strategy game.

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure that a full diatribe on the relative merits and demerits of every indy/non-indy game I've played would be a little too much even for you good folk.

Oh! Almost forgot TA Spring (born of the greatest strategy game of ever, and not much worse.)

Gah! Must. Stop. Writing!

the R.I.P. trilogy are a lot of fun (if you like that type of game).  I also like Manic Space.  I find it similar to Tradewars, the old BBS game.

Something else to occupy your time: 2 games from the IGF, both of which are awesome browser based games.

One is Tri-achnid, a game featuring a three legged spider and his one ball.

Another is Iron dukes, which focuses more on salty sea dogs and their paper bag diving helmets.

Have fun!

I tried iron dukes.  While fun, I found it extreamily easy.  So easy I had nearly all three sailer's updated with the best stuff by the time I got to the boss of the demo leader & took him out in one shot.

i tried out polarity.  its pretty cool.  too bad it only takes about 10 minutes to beat the entire game.  hopefully they will expand it with multiple levels and such.

Armagetron Advanced (www.armagetronad.net) is my poison when I'm not playing WoG, check it out.  :)

Theres a lot of lightcycle games out there. My favourite one is GlTron, but i'm not sure if that's supported anymore...

Re: something to occupy your time while waiting for the game...t104/17/2008 - 18:05

GlTron's has pretty graphics, but Armagetron offers an awful lot more in terms of gameplay, configuration options, multiplayer, etc.  ;)

I've been playing STALKER with the Oblivion Lost mod.  All areas are open, there's vehicles, all mutants roam the entire zone, military is more aggressive, night = black (unless there's lightning or moon out)...  very sweet.

Re: something to occupy your time while waiting for the game...Ballisticsfood04/18/2008 - 10:44

Stalker =  :D

Although I haven't ever played it with a mod... I just turned the gamma down for night to be darker(and tweaked the contrast and other lighting bits). Sounds good though.

forgot to add: random blowouts all over the zone.  So pack some anti-rad med as soon as you can.  :)

I'm hoping fallout 3 will be more stalkerish in gameplay vs oblivion.  I'd rather have more action vs more micromanagement.

(Necropost!)
I've been playing Castle Crashers all day today- if you have an xbox and $10-15 it's definitely worth the purchase.

Edit: I bought Braid today (thanks for pointing me towards it!), I loved it.  The entire game never failed to amaze me and I'm still confused as to what I think happened at the end (beginning?).
