My timezone is GMT -6, and everyday at 11 PM, GooFans takes forever to load. It's such a bad time for it to take that long, especially when you have to sleep early for school.

Why does this happen?

Around about midnight (EST, GMT-0500), GooFans runs its daily backup. This takes a few hours so I'm limited in how far I can push it back before it starts affecting Europe, but I've changed it to run at 2am. Hope this helps.

This'll be largely resolved with the server move happening in the next few months.

Wow, looking into why it is taking so long to run, I find that the goofans database is now 25GB in size! 23GB of which is user sessions. Seems that Debian's default php.ini disables session garbage collection, grr.

Dumping the database will lock up the site in order to stop the database being modified while it's being backed up, which is why it was so slow. Should be a lot better now.

Edit: Deleted all the sessions. This will have caused everyone to be logged out.
