Black Screen on Launch

Hello;
just bought World of Goo from the Steam Store,
and unfortunately can't even play it.

I get the same problem that I see is described on
http://goofans.com/world-of-goo/history/changes

The game launches, but I see nothing but flickering screens.
My primary monitor alternates between a black screen and a charcoal screen every 5 or so seconds. My secondary monitor displays windows that would typically be displayed on my primary monitor, and I can see them resizing etc every time the screen display alternates. It's almost like it's trying to kick in, but can't.

I tried running the 1.3 patch to no avail.
I tried patching the directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\world of goo
and
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\world of goo\WorldOfGoo
since there aren't really any instructions as to which folder it needs to point to.

Any suggestions you have to offer are more than welcome, as I'm anxious to try this game out!

Windows moving to your secondary monitor could indicate that you're not running WoG with your primary monitor's resolution. Try editing config.txt in the "properties" directory to match it.
