On my ipad2 the whistle will not stop - ever. Notes appear in the lower right corner of the screen and do not stop.

So, do the Goo Balls move at accelerated speed also, or is it just the whistle particle effect that appears?

The Goo Balls move at an accelerated speed as well. It renders the game nearly impossible as they are focusing on the lower right corner
The only advice I could give is try reinstalling, then restoring a backup of your profile.
