[SOLVED] WOG and Ubuntu Precise

Hello,
I bought WOG in the Humble Bundle. I installed the deb package on Ubuntu Precise (12;04) but it crashed at start:
$ WorldOfGoo
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
It looks like World of Goo crashed! If you need support, please include the
contents of the log file in your problem report.

1. copied the config file from /opt/WorldofGoo/properties/config.txt to ~/.WorldOfGoo/
(please note: depending on your installation the path to "config.txt" might be different)
2. opened ~/.WorldOfGoo/config.txt in gedit
3. changed "auto" to "esd" in so that it reads
4. saved the file
5. started World Of Goo without segmentation fault
I tried pulse wich is the aim audio server in Ubuntu without success, only esd driver works.

I'm hopeless with Linux, but it looks like you fixed your problem yourself. This will be sure to help other people with the same problem, so thanks for posting.
Unfortunately the developers of WoG don't come here often so they probably won't read your request for the fix. I suggest using their contact form instead.

got same problem with ubuntu precise! get the game running but without sound - no matter which driver i try in the config.txt - file in my home's .WorldOfGoo-folder! no esd no dsp does work no sound help pls!
You can also try the bug reporting form link from the Humble Indie Bundle: http://goo.gl/C1tuO . You may not get a response, since the Bundle is over, but it's worth a shot.

I knew something was fishy, because the demo available in the Software Center ran fine, but my Humble Bundle download didn't launch (didn't seem to "crash" either, it just didn't start)
I just downloaded the .deb from Humble Bundle yesterday, so maybe they need to be provided with another package, whoever can do that ;- )
I reinstalled Ubuntu on my computer, but the 64 bits version, not i386. I tried to use my first workaround (first message of this discussion) and it did not work. I tried Tavin's one, replaced the 3 libogg/libvorbis librairies files in /opt/WorldOfGoo/libs64 and it works!!!

launch WorldOfGoo like this:
$ padsp WorldOfGoo
--> no crash and you have sound
