Mimicking the WoG-style art?

So here's the deal. I have come up with an idea for a new final level of chapter 1 (which will replace Regurgitation Pumping Station) for the mod I'm planning (don't worry though, Chapter 1 will still be called "The Goo Filled Hills"), and the level itself is supposed to take place aboard a train.

The issue is, however, I possess no knowledge of the WoG style, so I cannot make the necessary art myself.

I ask for one of the following:
A. An explanation of the WoG art style so I can attempt to make the art myself
B. A person willing to help make the art.

Either of the above would be highly appreciated. I'm already planning out the level and constructing it in WooGLE as I type this.

Hi Thomas!
I see that you are going to edit "CHAPTER 1" yes?

well i don't know for sure ( because i'm not an expert on modding chapter )
but i think the level in chapter 1 is not mod-able because chapter one is the place where GooTool put in and arrange mod level ( individual ones ) and if you mess with the level in it, it will crash the game..

like i said above "i don't know for sure"
but i suggest asking the Pro modders like Mom4evr or Albino Pokey

but for the art though i think i can help but if you want you can ask Mom4evr because he had done wog art before...

It's possible to edit Chapter 1, it's just harder since there are some things you have to watch out for. See point 7 in this tutorial for what I mean (I'm not sure if I fully understand it myself but it's really useful if you absolutely need to edit Chapter 1): http://goofans.com/developers/resources/chapter-addin-development

Anywho, the point made in the OP still stands.

There's a timelapse video on YouTube of Kyle creating Chapter 2 from his pencil sketches. It's quite informative.

Hmm...seems promising. Would you happen to have a link? I can't seem to find it.

I personally stink at art, but I know of two people who were very good at replicating World of Goo's style: xanax and Martin33.

Both, as far as I'm aware, are quite inactive at this point, but all the artwork I have that's done by them can be found in the NotWOG2 files (See the first couple posts by me on http://goofans.com/forum/fan-expansion/public-discussion/2873 for some downloads). There's a lot of stuff there, but their artwork should be buried in proper subfolders and zip files with their names on them.

For my own personal goomods, I would always just make some 3D models in Blender (A free 3D modeling program). The end result was artwork that in my opinion was passable. Close enough to not look completely out of place, but not great or anything. It's a really complicated program to use, though.

Good luck on your mod! If you need help with anything, let us know. It's been a while for me, but I probably remember more about chapter stuff than I myself realize.

WOW! what program did he use?
and good luck making your mod!

I think Kyle and xanax both used Photoshop. Martin33 was a GIMP fan.

I personally find paint.NET easier to use. That's actually what I'm going to use to attempt to draw this...

EDIT: ...welp, I can't do this. Can't say I'm surprised, since art isn't exactly my strong point. Perhaps I'll get the actual level straightened out first.

yes i have try all of those programs even Photoshop CS4
i have search the internet for "free" "good" programs

and i think the result for art is inkscape...

- its free
- has fully customize able geometry

here is an example of my inkscape work

http://gifmaker.me/PlayGIFAnimation.php?folder=2014041112PAyiMGsnlqATVUA...

(hope you can open the link)

the robot's geometry was make in inkscape, edited and shaded in Paint.NET and finally animated using skeletal animating in Spriter

and all these program are free!

I guys.

It's been a long time I haven't checked this forum. Sorry about that but I have been really busy in real life (and helping other projects).

I noticed that MoM4Evr mentioned our unfinished fan made WOG2 project. I still really regret that we gave it up. At this time we were all very enthusiasts but no real enhancements/new levels/artworks were created (even though this community had really talented members).

I haven't played WoG for years nor tried to create new levels but I could retry.
@ThomasSpeedrunner: do you have a sketch/drawing of your level?

Hi goo23. Heh, thanks but I am not really famous.

Guys, if you want to contact me (to talk about this possible new level or else), you can use the IRC channel linked in my signature.
