Sounds like you have the wrong version of Minecraft, or your account is banned.

Sometimes I have trouble logging in, too, and so I try a few times until it lets me in. But yeah, also make sure you're using Minecraft 1.8.1, which is the latest version.

Usually, this error has something to do with minecraft.net

I suggest you just restart Minecraft and try again.

Or minecraft.goofans.com

@MOM Nope. It has to be a domain name, so unless there's a domain extension ".goofans" and David registered it and edited the DNS settings, that would be impossible.

@Red: Yes, I do know how Domain Name Servers work. I've even debugged programs by looking at DNS socket calls. For pay.

We have nothing against you if you are using a pirated version (I used for a little while before I bought it), but I really suggest you buy it for the multiplayer.
