Are you guys aware of the game "Always Up!"?

I made an account just for this, so hopefully this is in the right section. I've searched to see if this topic has ever come up before and I think it hasn't...?

Anyway I downloaded a game on the iOS today called Always Up! and the art style seems to have a lot in common with World of Goo.

Here's some images:
http://noramifications.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/IMG_0630.png - bridge made out of goo in the background
http://dieselpuppet.com/portfolio/jumpandfly/Iphone/1.png - this is actually another game by the same company that uses the same style, you can see a goo motif and the flies are very familiar

I don't want to jump to conclusions so I was wondering if 2D Boy is affiliated with them at all?

Hmm, nope. I haven't seen that before. As far as I know, the company isn't affiliated with 2DBoy; what's the name of the company?

The company is called Diesel Puppet. Here's their website: http://dieselpuppet.com/

And the Goo Bridge images look exactly like recolored Ivys.

The art style is honestly different. I can tell it was a different artist just by the shading. Kyle never put white on his images to simulate light.

From what Red said, it could just be coincidence. But that bridge does look an awful lot like it's made of goo.

Copyright issues! Maybe we SHOULD censor the internet...
Bah! The bridge is even physically acting like it's made out of goo! See how it's leaning in near the left! It has no inner support.

If a house that weighs 100 pounds (it's a small house) has five birds inside it and the birds start hovering in the house, does the house still weigh 100 pounds?.

Hello!

My (forum) name is MOM4Evr, and I'm a moderator on the goofans forum, where a bunch of World of Goo fans hang out a lot. On one forum topic (here: http://goofans.com/forum/world-of-goo/general-discussion/3348 ), a user noticed that your game "Always Up" seemed to have a Goo-looking bridge in the background, and a somewhat similar art style. We're just wondering if you're affiliated with 2DBoy at all, if you're just fans making a nod at a game you like, or if you had no idea at all that that bridge looked like it was from World of Goo.

Thanks!

My point was that some of things in the game seem to be from World of Goo directly, but yeah, there are differences.

Also, the game hasthe same transitions as World of Goo, where black goo fills up or clears away from the screen.

Those transitions are also very popular. Not enough proof. Let's wait for them to respond.

I got a response back!

Yeah a lot of sites end up filtering some character-combinations. For the longest time on 4chan, if you actually wrote "4chan" it would replace it with "Newt Gingrich". Tongue

Heheh. I remember one site replacing all swear words with "poop" or something.

Maybe we could have something like all swear words are replaced with "goo product".

or pickle.
"what the pickle!"
"son of a pickle!"
oh my pickling pickle!"

We should totally do that with MOM4Evr's manual replacement phrases. "What the cucumber were you thinking?"

also on 4 chan, if you said nine or something , it would replace it with over ninethousand, so if you wrote i spent nine dollars yesterday it would say, i spent over ninethousand dollars yesterday.
