Well, I'm not part of the "Official" WoG2 team, but I'd like to make a comment.
The best thing to do if you want to help is get WooGLE, WooBLE, and of course GooTool (if you already haven't got it). You'll also need to read about a bit in the "Addin/Game File Formats" and other sections.
By doing this and poking around in the programs you'll be able to get a much better idea of WoG's capabilities and limitations, which in turn will enable you to give better ideas. Maybe you can even do some actual work
You do realise i've made levels before, all I need is athorisation to enter the team. BTW i've been on goofans longer than you and I think I now my way around level making.

Alternatively, you could install all four on a portable hard drive/memory stick and run them off of there (I ran World of Goo and GooTool off a stick for a while last year, never had any problems). It's called Deep Underground, and has a lot of dark levels with Glows and Glow Products.
