look at the old world of goo menu screen. It has 6 levels? is it possible to get those images of other levels and put them in the game?

and that would be sooo much work that is not needed. And besides, everyone would get a badge then, because it isn't hard to come up with something that works, but it is very hard to come up with something totally brilliant.

...as for me, I discovered (for myself, anyhow) 3 useful things about goo... perhaps you guys will see it now and does not have to do with delicousness.

I think, that the contest should have a main theme, like Experimental Gameplay Project. For example "machines" or "travel" or "information" or...
Then everyone starts to create level following this topic/theme. Without pre-defined theme levels can be too different to form a chapter. And it's even more challenging to create level, when there are some requirements.

That's why I was thinking some generic images should be part of the theme, to make the levels look related.

I really think the theme should just be something along the sides of "adventure", using themes from ch1 and ch2 and ch5 kind of style. I say adventure because this would be the first contest to start it the goofans chapter, if there be one.

i really would like to avoid having just a normal contest. Having a contest to create a goofans chapter using the levels submitted would be the best thing to do, because people can follow through a story instead of just 1 level.

just have to wait and see what the others are really up to.

Herm... interesting idea I just had...
Players in this contest recieve set artwork (a few images, as well as rights to use a few out of the original images), some set artwork for a couple different new Goo Balls, etc. Then they have to see what they can come up with with that artwork.
That way, it could be pretty much guaranteed that all levels fit the same 'theme.'

anyway, that's actually perfect. It would also make it fair, as some people might have better artwork skills than others and stuff. It would also fit the same theme as well. Also, it would be an absolute "skill" contest, as everyone has the same pieces to work with (besides music).

IN fact, music should be the only thing that people can decide.

But i say that you can still use WoG original PROPS (not cliffs and stuff). stuff like bushes, trees, gate arms, etc., as long as it fits the original theme.

I say we do something about COLD and ICY... its brand new and not in WoG already (except for Hang Low, but thats only like 3 things)

Well, since so many people like the idea, I guess a themed contest is OK. I mean, the thing is I'll have to wait until everything's organized and I need to get the images before I make my level. What's more, I'm not sure if the images will even fit my level. I mean, to make an awesome level, you need to have the right resources. Is this a level making contest, or a "make a level that fits this theme and uses these images and uses these gooballs and has this storyline" contest?

Well they shouldn't be required, but fitting the theme, yes, i guess, that would be sorta required. It could veer off the topic just ever so slightly but not so much where it breaks off the theme completely.

we will just have to wait and see the rules and stuff.

I honestly think that having generic images/goo/storyline would ultimately be fair. Some of us might be bad at making a story, or coming up with a good theme, or making images.

It would then become a contest of skill, not product. You could have ingredients for a cake and do something entirely different with them, see what I'm getting at?

Graphics are not my strong point. If I were in this, I'd want either predetermined graphics or an easy theme to replicate.

Yeah, I can't make my own graphics either. But if we could use any graphics we want, I'd just use standard WoG graphics.
