The Game Maker created
World of Goo Themed Platform Game
The main charracter is a black Goo Ball that can run, jump, stick to vertical wall and climb on it. Enemies are other kinds of Goo Balls (Pokeys, Balloons, Bones, Bits, Bombs, Evil Eyes), dangerous spikes and gears. The goal is to feed Fisty the frog with a Goo-Drink from red can. You start from the Frog and must return at the start point after you got a can. Five available powerups can be helpful.

-possibility of switching off music and/or sounds
-extended possibilities of CustomPaint (conditions available)
-added possibility of animated stuff in the background
-deleted last remains of old explosion system*

Platforms of Goo Level Editor (PoGLE) - version 1.02
-allows to add objects outside the play area

-possibility of deleting all objects or tiles ([delete] key)

Platforms of Goo Profile viewer - version 0.2
Simple tool allowing to view time records from your PoG profile (PoG Tool ).
*WARNING! In level Towers from chapter 5, cracked bridge between towers is not definitely destroyed by the explosion (since the machanism of explosion was updated). It makes the level a bit harder.
On October 31st I've published the source .gmk file of the game (last modified 07/08/2014).
This is the end of Platforms of Goo development. I have lost access to full version of Game Maker (I don't want to buy GM:S ) and also the interest in PoG is lower and lower. It was really nice to feel almost like a real game designer

Now there is THE ULTIMATE QUESTION about the name of this game.
I will release .gmk file, but not now.
PS. First inspiration is not from WoG, but from flash-created game I saw one day. But it was called a bit different. I decided to use Goo Ball as a main charracter a few days later.

My ideas are "Goo-game" or PoG ("Platfrom of Goo").
Now it's not as important.
Have someone an idea how to show targetbutton, that should be reached before the return to Fisty? Or there should be more kinds of monsters?

Oh Yes! I like the idea, maybe a sort of 'Pipe' with spikes on the wall, and you cant get to top if you cant fly, and the balloon makes is possible! Or you mabe need to rescure some sleeping goos in a cage or something like this
And maybe you can get sometime an new goo for example a yellow Pokey, with wich you can climb on walls etc.
Or a Ballon with wich you can fly.
That would make the game better! ... i think...
and BTW: I Love this level !!! (I'm all the time very scared from the purple Pokey^^)
and BTW²: I think the game has a really good chance to be such a good game like WoG!
and BTW³: I think, If you include more levels, you could also make it like in WoG, that you have a map, and ur getting closer and closer to your aim.
and BTW^4(I dunno how to make the High 4): It could maybe be the same aim as in WoG, the aim, to build a tower Higher and Higher! And you maybe are looking for much goos to build the tower, and thats the reason, why you are rescuring the goos!
and BTW^5: And maybe you can connect 2 goos to get true the level, for example a Pokey and a Balloon, then you can fly (if you want to) and you can stand on walls with the Pokey.
and BTW^6: I think if you Include the 'much Goos choosable for playing' you need to add the Bone for the spikes or wheels, and make the emeny Bone with Evil Eyes, and they need to look like MUHAHAHA!!!...
and BTW^7: sorry for my BTW's and my bad english ;D

Maybe the Evil Bones look just normal, till you get near to them, then they walk in front of you, and their eyes change -> >:[

I got a Problem... the evil pokey got stucked in the top-left corner... and i was standing at the bottom, between the last block at the left and the second last block at the right...

Some of your, matheus23 are realy good, BUT I'M NOT KYLE GABLER!
Strands are impossible to make with my stuff. Game has no phisic engine (every collisions etc. are based on simple Game Maker's mechanisms).
There will be another Pokey, that moves always close to wall.
And I have an idea about... balloon-item. When You got balloon-item, you can fly until you touch the wall.

I found if you jump while going towards the wall, you can wall jump.
I was thinking of balloon levels, where falling pokeys and WoGC crap fall, but you need to collect a certain item for points. (tiny you's? )

I love this game! Is there a way to translate AS2 into GM so that you can use this collision detection/bounce/connection engine? It calculates the angle o the object you're touching for the angle of incidence, uses some values like in materials.xml.bin, and was first used for a "Line-Rider" style game.

Probably it's possible using Extension packages. AS2 sould be saved as DLL and using Extension Maker soemeone should make EP. The extension installed to Game Maker will allow us using engine in games.
ExtMaker is free software comming form http://yoyogames.com site.
Using extension is possible only in full version of GM.

NEW IDEAS: Make the Bones able to FALL. We need some good gravity-related phiscs here. And make the Pokeys roll around surfaces. Some go at different speeds, some can fall from different objects, etc. Balloons should replace the flying Pokeys, and fly up when the player is over them, and then fall down slowly. More intelligent Balloons can follow the player around similar to how the "Dark Pokey" does. Only that it stays still until the player is in it's "range" which is in any direction NOT through a wall. And could you make your goo have to "wall jump", which is jumping off of a wall, and then having to jump against another wall to continue the jump and so jumps from the left to the right left right left until the goo gets to the top.

I acctually don't like the idea, because then you could replace the goo with a human or somethign like that.. it replaces the feeling, that you arent Lara Croft, etc, but you are a Goo with other skills, i think it needs to be like it is ...

Oh and BTW (yes BTW ^^): Ive got another Idea ^^ maybe the Goo can fart, and you can jump with a fart higher... I mean, you jump up from the bottom, then you fart and get higher ^^(you could do that by pressing the Space or something like that...)

And there won't be any island-map. It's realy hard to make!
I didn't want to make a game as advenced as WoG.
There will be of corse a lot of levels. (After creation of every monster, target and everything, I will make a level editor fo this game.)
There will be only a level-list in main menu. Levels will be a sequence, so you will need to beat level 1 before 2 and every level n before level n+1.
But there won't be advenced data codeing, so eveyone who is a bit inteligent could edit level sequence... using rename file option...

Hmmmm.... Good! The bones fall now, and the original flying Pokeys have been replaced by an EvilEye and Balloon! New Yellow Pokeys stick to walls!
MORE IDEAS: Make a Dark Pokey that can jump off of surfaces at notice! Oh yeah, and Powerups would be a VERY good idea, AB! Maybe take an Albino Pokey image (in honor of AB himself) with a glow and make it give you Pokey Powers until after like, 15-30 secs, and a Balloon powerup that allows you to fly in the air, a Lemon (BALL) powerup that allows you to STICK to walls, like jump on a wall then you stick there, Fuse allows you to set certain things on fire, and StickyBomb allows you to blow something up. And maybe some Goos that you can build with, and climb on both bodies and strands, like buildable walls. And once you have got the enemies and flammable stuff and explodable stuff right, then some REAL levels can come in.

I told you I'm not a Kyle Gabler. Strands are realy far away from my possibilities!
I'm thinking about use of Bombs and Fuse. Probably Fuse will be a bonus, that will allow you to flee and destoy a monster in contact. After one collision with monster, you loses bonus.
Bomb will be very dangerouse monster, that starts to burn, if you are too close and explodes after few secounds. Explode destoys you If you are too close...

Hmmmm...... So building goos can't be done here. But I think that powerups can. And so is flammable and explodable walls/rope, and hey, Bone powerup will enable you to kill the monsters. Flame powerup will enable you to flame up stuff, Bomb powerup gives you a timer to get near to the blast wall and then BOOM and you survive. Too bad you are thinking to make these enemies... Powerups are better! But more enemies is cool too.

How about these powerups:
Pokey lets you stick to walls (eg, staying in one place on a wall instead of going higher to wait for a monster).
Bone lets you touch spikes, but not monsters
Bone Pokey lets you touch spikes and stick to stuff
Fuse lets you blow up a monster once
Gold makes you really heavy (small jumps)
Balloon completely reverses gravity, so you can walk on the ceiling
And so on! For enemies you could have something from the WoGC so they don't look like powerups. This is a great game!

I think Gold should let you ride on enemy skulls, or crush other enemies. Another idea would be to have helper goos follow you to take hits, sort of like a life bar. (you can get more later) That would kinda remind me of Pikmin.

I will add Bone, Bomb and Balloon powerup.
Bomb powerup will be usefull to destoy cracked walls (normal Bomb-enemy from versions 0.04+ can do it too, but cracked walls not exists yet) and kill monsters.
Bone will allow to survive at spikes.
Balloon will allow you to fly until the collision with wall.
For now - no more monsters (because of limited testing area). Main target is to define target point (the thing you must cath before finnishing level at Fisty).
EDIT: For everyone who loves Pokeys - the evil one in game will be red!

When you say EVIL POKEY, do you mean the one that can jump off of walls and stick to yours? And it follows you when you are on the structure?

Explode kills you in a bit strange way. When Bomb explodes, it streams a lot of light-splats. This splats can kill you. Best way to survive is run far away, or hide behind some walls (walls can stop light a bit).
PS. Aren't bombs look beautyfull?

I know, but the one to the right of the first bone killed me even though I was back at Fisty. It seems like the "light-splats" should fade away faster.
But yes, the bomb graphics are awesome.

Flash: It's simple,has lots of capabilities.See www.newgrounds.com for examples
Pascal: A begginner programmers language,very simple,yet has extremely high cappabilities.Sorry,no examples!
Any C language: Harder,but a full capabillity programming language!I could send you examples.

@Albino Pokey,ActionScript2.0 is a scripting language,not a programming one,so it's kinda impossible to convert it to a code GameMaker uses.
P.S.It's a temporary stay,I haven't returned.

Yeah. I agree with AB. The explosion should be a radius, not "light-splats". If you could make only the explosion hurt you, that would be better. But hey, now you can make real levels! And maybe a particle effect behind the Bone powerup that replaces the green, like a lightburst sort of effect.

OK. In version 0.06 bomb kills "by a circle"...

How about the "official levels before editor" strategy? Why is it the level editor that comes first? Maybe it's because you have to make sure that a level editor CAN be made before you make levels that can't be made through a level editor...

First of all I will create simple level editor, to help ME designing levels. Writing level-code in notepad is not very nice.I want to store level data in external files but GM not supports it well (but it's possible to do). Graphics will be stored in external files too, because I want to reduce .exe file's size.
The version 0.10 will have some levels designed with it. I need some levels to test features like level ending, selecting levels to play etc. When I finnish user interface, level codeing etc. I will upload Level Editor, to be not only author of final version's levels. Note, that level editor will be not as user-friendly as WooGLE.

Are you planning to use a matrix for level storage?
eg:

If you are, I can make a user-friendly program that saves into an XML.
Another format could be
etc...
meaning 1 row: 5 blocks
another row: 1 block, 3 spaces...
