The Game Maker created
World of Goo Themed Platform Game
The main charracter is a black Goo Ball that can run, jump, stick to vertical wall and climb on it. Enemies are other kinds of Goo Balls (Pokeys, Balloons, Bones, Bits, Bombs, Evil Eyes), dangerous spikes and gears. The goal is to feed Fisty the frog with a Goo-Drink from red can. You start from the Frog and must return at the start point after you got a can. Five available powerups can be helpful.

What is new in letest version (1.75)?
-possibility of switching off music and/or sounds
-extended possibilities of CustomPaint (conditions available)
-added possibility of animated stuff in the background
-deleted last remains of old explosion system*
-possibility of skipping one level per level set
-level Virtual Darkness replaced with new version
-some minor changes in other levels
-walls inside Fisty moved up
-fixed problem with Custom Event while showing menu (visible in custom "shaft levels")
-fast scrolling level list with Ctrl

Platforms of Goo Level Editor (PoGLE) - version 1.02
-allows to add objects outside the play area
-allows to add tiles behind top bar (signed with red border)
-Quick-Tile function for adding spikes
-background scaled and positioned same like in game
-fast scrolling with Ctrl
-possibility of deleting all objects or tiles ([delete] key)
-possibility of hiding tiles in object-adding mode ([H] key)
-allows to customize Balloon Bonus sounds

Platforms of Goo Profile viewer - version 0.2
Simple tool allowing to view time records from your PoG profile (PoG Tool ).
*WARNING! In level Towers from chapter 5, cracked bridge between towers is not definitely destroyed by the explosion (since the machanism of explosion was updated). It makes the level a bit harder.
On October 31st I've published the source .gmk file of the game (last modified 07/08/2014).
This is the end of Platforms of Goo development. I have lost access to full version of Game Maker (I don't want to buy GM:S ) and also the interest in PoG is lower and lower. It was really nice to feel almost like a real game designer

Once if I made ULC a full level set of 550 Levels (500 Main, 50 Marathon), I just want to compile into one full game so that my link in ULC wouldn't break.
EDIT: I also wanted to make a ULC wiki out of it so any information could relate to this.

It's just a simple fanmade game. There shouldn't be any legal anything preventing you from playing it. I'd say give it a go.

Background animation is on the way! (Would not be so easy to use, but seem powerful)
For new version I'm collecting minor improvements:
- faster skipping levels (End works better and also you can sroll faster with Ctrl)
- possibility of changing text colors (just for fun)
- powerful background animation (read more in PoG Modding Guide)
- possibility of hiding numbers in island-view (for inwog's ULC)
- pausing the game while showing menu no longer possible
- few pixels in graphic files modified
- polish header in both Default.res.txt files
- evil eye in one borring level of chapter 2
- custom event no more executed while showing menu (shaft levels got problems)
- awesome signpost in one level of chapter 5
...
At the beginning I hoped to finnish new version before my 20th birthday, but it's few days too late and I also need time to test everything, before publishing. It would be nice to finnish work in the summer .

One more thing. If you can work on this one, can you please add an option to mute sounds and/or music whenever we play. Just a suggestion because most games have those commonly.

I read the particles page in the PoG modding guide, but how can I use particles without using PoG particles?

You want to create completely different particles? You need to redefine some unused particles like in Chapter 3. You can use sprite_index parameter, to set s_animation (mostly unused image) as image for new particles, and e.g. use other fire particles created by GML, saving normal fire for boms etc. There's also effect_create_above function for simple effects (but creates effects also in front of top bar).
Or you can read about particle mechanism in Game Maker (I know there are many possibilities, but I've never lernt it and it's not used in PoG at all). You may have some problems with depths...
Creating new kinds of objects (extending particle objects like inheritance in OOP) is not recommended (GML allows it, but I guess it would create new kind of particles every time the level starts).

Suggestion, how about creating levels that has a countdown timer that when it comes to 0, everything is lost, and a value determining on how many seconds to finish the level.

Timer like this can be done by ALC (but not instead of normal timer) and at the end Goo Ball may die
glut.counter=30*seconds; custom_event="with(glut) if (instance_exists(levelexit) && counter>0) counter-=1; else instance_destroy();"
Use custom_paint to show remaining time value (e.g. over the Goo Ball:
custom_paint="with(glut) {text(x,y-32,time_to_string(counter))}")
PS. I've never tried it.

Project closed, source published
I return to announce that the Platforms of Goo Project is finally closed. There won't be further versions than 1.75. You probably were ready to hear it after a year of silence around PoG.
I have no access to full version of GM 8.0, so I can't compile tha game any more.
What's more, I've published the .gmk source of the game. I don't know how latest versions of Game Maker work, but you should put the file in the main directory of the game (in place of normal executable), and then it can be run (I hope).
The code is not well commented (and there are also some comments in Polish left), but in Game Maker you can guess a bit from the fact that code is organised in events. Remember that after a year I forgot how it worked, so it's not like I can easily answer any question about PoG engine.
As I mention at the bottom of the description it was an awesome adventure to feel like a game designer at age of 16 (and for another 4 years).

Very fun game, definitely worth checking out. The only problem I have is that sometimes jumping doesn't seem to work, but that's no big deal.

My game keeps crashing trying to speedrun "Fatal Error". A bit annoying, but thankfully it only happened occasionally. Also I thought it was funny because of the level name. Here's my best run:
