Oh. Well then, get Photoshop, unless you only want to edit/modify images in which case I STRONGLY recommend GIMP.

@AP GIMP.

@dan250 Please, it's one of the most-used freeware image-manipulation programs on the web!

well I know people who don't read things correctly.
and everybody knows that they are not allowed to download stuff because of their parents. and I guess i'll need to use that rubbish paint again, like that moon.

Jeez, I was talking about your dad, as in how could he think that GIMP is a virus!?

My dad was a programmer, therefore he actually knew something about computers and I surfed as I pleased.

off-topic chat topic is off-topic.

Anyway, from what I've heard, GIMP is very similar to Photoshop, only free. If you're good with GIMP, or good with Photoshop, you can create images in either (I use GIMP exclusively for image creation and editing, and you can use it like MS Paint if you like. Martin33, who did artwork for the NOTWOG2 project, used GIMP to create all his images, and they look epic). But everybody has their own personal preference, so try out GIMP and PAINT.NET and see if you like either. If you don't, try something else.

And by the way, if something is published under the GNU GPL, chances are that it's peer-reviewed enough to not contain viruses. Especially a program that's as well-known as GIMP. You'd be more likely to find viruses in a Windows Service Pack update. Tongue

Yeah, as long as you download it from GIMP.org it'll be virus free. But I know what you mean, parents (particularly computer-unsavvy ones) can be quite restrictive on downloading.

ready and installed
no viruses found.
I'll need to look around to know how to make (edit) images...

I planned that I will make a pipe collection, because
common have their own
ish have their own
do Ivy have their own?
do albino have their own?
there's your answer
But first i'll make a 'sparkly' pipe and goo balls for a simple first test.

...and you know what that means.
new images!
new pipes!!
new images for gooballs!!!
new backrounds!!!!
and stuff!!!!!

but the next level that is ready to be published, doesn't want to be published...
(that level won't have any new images well, there is millions of images that are very useful to make levels. you really don't know how many great useful images there are in the original game)...and so a big clue of publishing this level is a little bit down. The level is called 'B_l_e_i_ B_a_d _y_t_m_'

Actually, World of Goo does have some viruses in it.

And a spambot.

I think he was joking, looking at Red's response. If it had viruses, everybody would know.

By the way, there are plenty of GIMP tutorials on the web, they'll help you pick it up right away.

That was a good one! Laughing out loud

And yes, GIMP is quite complex. After using it for a while, you'll start to figure it out. There should be plenty of tutorials, also. Or you can buy "The GIMP Bible" like I did. That has a LOT of info.

As for learning how to draw on the computer, watching the video that showed Kyle making the images for Little Miss World of Goo is a good way to see how people use various tools. And if you want more, Wolfire games does some Art Asset Overviews that sometimes show Aubrey making some concept art. Or you can ask Howitz. He's an awesome artist. Smile

The whole thing about WoG having viruses and spam was just a reference to Chapter 4.

@AP: Oh, thanks for spoiling that! I didn't even figure that out yet...

Probably never would have though. Now Chapter 4 makes more sense, so thanks Tongue
