Yeah, that's a good theory. The only problem is if you want another mostlydeadly geometry in the level. But in most of these cases deadly would be sufficient, which would kill the invulnerable balls.
Oh, and I forgot to add... another problem, or inconvenience, rather, would be that you have to make ALL the other gooballs in the level invulnerable, even if you just want to use common or other original balls.

The thing would be that you can't have the fire on the Gooball itself. You would have to apply flame particles to the Gooballs in each level. I don't know much about particles though, so I don't know if this is easy or difficult.
Just edit the "Island1" or "Island2" in the level folder. Rearrange the buttons to your liking. Each button can be changed to a different level in the properties pane. To change the order of levels, go to res/islands/island1.xml.bin or whatever island you want to edit and change the dependancy of each level.

Its actually quite hard to make a WHOLE chapter with signposts, new gooballs and level pipes + level buttons.
Ive made like 4 chapters.. wait, 5 chapters (including the moon).
and they where all really hard to FINISH.
Chapters are easy to START and still easy until you get near the finishing stage.
Its hard to explain.
Ill probably make a tutorial soon.

@Enchanter and BF4: Problem is, just modifying a chapter .xml isn't a good idea- it'll block other addins that are lower in the stack in GooTool. So, you need to create a .xml.xsl merge file, and move/change/add stuff there.
Okay yes in order not to clash with other levels, just copy the Island1 level to a new one, edit it to your heart's content, then use davidc's merger tool to make the xsl and use it!
