I've noticed that davidc and Daft as Brush have embedded images in some of their comments. If the <img> tag isn't accepted in the comment, how can you do this (a link to a picture won't change like a video will)?
it has to do with power.

And Trust....
You can do a lot of nasty things with an <img>
So basically only mods can upload images?

just because they're mods doesn't ment they're not the ONLY ones.......are they?
Let me see...

Nope, that last comment had a picture in it.

Now I have another question...is there any difference between a moderator and a contributor?

Technically, no. But some contributers like to moderate more, and others like to mod more.

It seems like not even mods are allowed to do what I mean: upload an image to Goofans itself, rather than from an external site. Now I have yet another question!
What are the 'testuser' and 'admin' accounts? They seem to be the first ones created.

Hmmm...

WHAT THE!?!?!?!? every time that I try to do it, I either get nothing or a link! Why!?!?!?
Maybe...
Nope, not a stand-alone either...
Grrr... Just tell us, please!!

I think you need to be a mod. I've tried to work around it, but no.

@TheGooMasters
You mean like this:
Yeah, you have to me a mod to do it

*this comment is now blank due to Dad's correction, showing that the Mods only have this after all. But it would be nice if normal users could do it too, though...*

Wow. Your dad corrected your comment? Impressive.
I personally don't see the point of non-mods linking to images. Just give a link to the picture rather than the picture itself; it serves the same purpose.

The original point of this topic was to see if I could host a goo-related image on this site, because I don't like file hosters.

Yep. I have to agree with Albino Pokey. I have never used a file-hosting site and I probably won't ever. Being able to show images from a local sever (a.k.a. right from your computer) will be much better, and if anyone wants to get that image all that they have to do is the copy-paste method (ctrl+c, ctrl+v). See how this becomes MUCH easier for people to share images without a file hoster? And don't forget those that don't like file hosters (a.k.a. ME and some other users... and AP)

I suppose you could add it as a screenshot to an addin and look up the URL, but that doesn't seem like a good idea.

Umm... I don't think that would work. That would make an image a broken link if you're not online, and, besides that, I think it's not quite that simple...

Yep... and easier for porn linkers to fill the forums...
I just don't see the need. I personally hate ad-ridden file hosting sites, as you all do. I, however, do use Imageshack, as you can link directly to the images. No ads, no nothing. They also keep the images on their servers for a very long time.
Forums with lots of images also take ages to load, and dialup internet users like ukpetd and myself (in the summer, anyhow) aren't appreciative of long-loading pages.
Not sure what direct-showing of images gains you, anyhow... you still have to upload it to Imageshack or similar, or copy/paste the link... unless you want Mr. Croft to code a lot more to autoupload images so you can post them directly in your posts, which seems kinda demanding of someone who has done so much for us already...
Ok, say I link to an image:
http://goofans.com/sites/default/files/pictures/picture-2389.png
If you click on it, your super high-speed internet shows it in seconds, and you can immediately hit "back" on your browser and you're back in the forum. If it were directly embedded in the post, however, it would make it all that much slower for us dialup users. If the image url looks strange or the poster looks strange, you simply don't click it, and you don't have to see whatever junk they're posting. (could be some kind of ad or pornography)
If the image takes a while to load from Imageshack, then it must be a really large image, and it would take FOREVER to load a forum topic like that on dialup. Not good.
Wow, almost a DaB-sized rant.

At least can you let normal users embed donuts in their forum topics?
Anyway, I never tried Imageshack. Do you have to pay?

No, indeed! I would never use it if I had to pay. I'm a total tightwad. I debated hard before I spent the fifteen bucks on World of Goo.

15 dollars?! I paid 20 for it! Where did you get it for 15?

I heard they had it for 7 off big fish games! XD

I got it at Target, way back when...it was only $15.
I think. I think I threw away the receipt.

I got it from 2DBoy.com. I found out about the demo later.

i know this kind of a stupid question but why can't they just make a blocker that blocks certain images or the name of an image so every time you click to upload it you will be blocked!
