Release date: 03/23/2012 - 09:23
This is an entire World of Goo chapter that overrides Chapter 5
It contains 10 levels for YOU to beat, in order, with 3 custom gooballs. Special thanks to Albino Pokey for providing the sequel and to Goomatz for fixing my island.xsl to allow cutscenes.
Version 2.5:
- Cutscenes
- Island changed on Map World View
- Level fixes to avoid loop holes
Enjoy!
Note:
You can rate this any way you like, but consider this: I invested a lot of time in designing, creating and debugging these levels, creating the chapter and level graphics, and even more time and effort pulling everything together, not to mention the cutscenes and the custom gooballs, so please don't just rate this as you would rate a single level or a mod, because with the difference in material, it just doesn't do this justice, this goes for all large mods and levels. Thank you. Now you can download! ———————————————————————————>

Oh, it's not the dependencies, it's the chapter modding itself.
See, the other levels are still in the island.xml.bin file, so the game thinks that they should be playable there.
So if one of them, say, WeatherVane, is incomplete, it looks into the island level and tries to find the button to put a little blinking arrow above it.
But since there is no longer a button for WeatherVane in that map, it can't figure out what to do! And it crashes. Unfortunately, there's no way to prevent this.

Look at the bottom post on the last page. I changed it since I noticed your post lol
Finished Infesty the Worm, Horizontal Transportation Innovation Committee, and Weather Vane. Infesty and HTIC were done in one try XD and Weather Vane was insanely hard; took me like 5-7 tries to finish, and even then, it was by a stroke of luck that my two balloons ended up on a triangle of goo and I got like 15 goos that way - I was too lazy to go and drag the other ones over there
Err... Tried to run it, but it didn't work! Also, I would like to inform you that I have NO OTHER ADDINS on right now, and with ALL official levels completed - if I hadn't, then an island would have the pointy arrow thing. And no islands have the pointy arrow thingy. AND YES, I completed ALL the Chapter 5 levels.
Oh, yeah, and it also crashes when I just try to SAVE it, and NOT launch. That's pretty weird. And why doesn't anybody tell me where the log is?!

Ooh. Sorry. That means that something went wrong with GooTool.

Only one problem with that: Where the hell do I find /var/folders/???? I can't find any folders with that name OR a file named "gootool0"! BTW I'm on a mac. That troubleshooting page just gave me trouble - it expects you to already know a file on the mac where it tells you everything when it comes to windows. How stupid is that?! Do they expect EVERYBODY who uses a mac to be an expert at finding folders?!

Short answer: Yep!

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that, it worked. Only one problem: Found it... nothing. There is NOTHING in /var/folders/ exept for restricted files and other such crap. The log doesn't even exist, although I have run GooTool many, many times. I'm deleting this version of GooTool.app and getting another one - maybe the one I have had something "wrong" that prevented a log from being made for whatever reason.

Well, he does say "probably". And it may be deleted with every run of the computer. /tmp/ is generally purged on startup or shutdown on UNIX filesystems, anyway. Did you see if the log was in /tmp/?

He's definitely having the same problem as me. Did you ever look at the code for my blank post, its not really blank, it just holds to much text and showed up blank. That should be the answer to both of our problems.
Sat, 04/14/2012 - 17:03
Yeah, I'm sorry. I totally dropped the ball on that one. Though I did make a pastebin of your log: http://pastebin.com/H5iKkPBt
It's strange, I'm not seeing any kind of error message in here. Davidc would probably have a better idea where to look / what to look for, but he doesn't come around very often.

Yeah, I agree, Alpha Goo. If only I could find the logfile... you see, there isn't really a way to monitor what the program is doing (the inside stuff) except for the log, and it seems to be deleted as soon as it is made. Maybe davidc should be a little more smart and put the logfile somewhere the computer WON'T delete it instantly - like in the GooTool applications folder, which is where the addins are stored; but since the addins are in an addins folder, then you can very simply put it outside of that, where you can easily reach it Or he can be even SMARTER and allow us to have an option of where we want the logfile to be stored in the first place
Oh, yeah, here's your error I found in that logfile:
java.lang.Exception: The task failed to complete due to a fatal error - check the log.

Try an earlier version of this goomod which doesn't have the movies.
The problem comes with the movie.bintl in the overide folder.
...davidc and Daft agreed that animations and movies should go in compile folder, not override because GooTool would handle porting animations to different OS so you don't have to include three different animations/movies in override folder for three different OS.
At the moment GooTool doesn't have animation/movie encryption but it will have in the next version when Daft and davidc agree on xml format
This was two years ago. Still waiting for gootool 1.1

I tried all 5 versions and I still have the java.lang.exception.
Sun, 04/15/2012 - 13:16
It may be due to something else, I'll enable all verions, but they're not as good!
Also, it can't have anything to do with completing the chap 5 levels since I tested this on a fresh profile.

I have a mac if that matters, but I'm really not sure.
Sun, 04/15/2012 - 20:59
Ah. The animation files would be different on a mac. (It's a slightly different binltl, right?)

Err... No idea. I'm a hopeless goo moder, but that's probably it.
Tue, 04/17/2012 - 20:02
Hm. Does anyone know what the difference is? I assumed that the proprietary formats like binltl would be the same across all platforms, except possibly word size?

Could also be little vs. big endian, but I'm not sure. I thought only Linux had different .binltl's for 64-bit platforms, and they were the same for other platforms. I never looked into it much, though. I haven't even actually used WooVIE hardly at all, except for an early prerelease version before Daft announced it on this site.

Wait a minute... doesn't the game have different movies for 64 bit and 32 bit? Maybe the addin is trying to use 64 bit movies on a 32 bit or vice versa... not sure if that's the case but it might be...
For those wondering, Earth of Goo is still being worked on, but not as often. It will be finished! Check out my website/YouTube @ScarletFury!
Fri, 04/20/2012 - 15:14
No, for 64-bit vs 32-bit the file name is different. They use binltl and binltl64.

I got an error, as usual.... Should i try making the AutoBalloon just in case?
Because writing signatures is too mainstream

momo1526, can I use your purple goo ball? It really looks cool, and I really want to use it in one of my Wiki-world levels. I'm working on it (I want to use the goo ball on chapter 5) and as soon as I will have at least 8 level ideas I will give my map, chapter and level designs to AP, so he could put them together as MWV and send it to me back.
Fri, 09/28/2012 - 11:15
Of course you can use them, however, I myself had problems to integrate them in levels, so be warned!
