I'm working on both the time records on GPU at the moment. I also published my latest profile.

Oh right. I just asked in case you were on hiatus.
Another one of my oldies gets beaten - not surprising really.

Hey, thanks to Peter B for contacting me on Youtube and getting my attention about this effort to archive records. So, as you guys have seen, he was able to get the dates for 2 of my 3 records that are still standing. Peter, you asked me to check my Photobucket account to look for an upload date for the Flying Machine record. Unfortunately, Photobucket doesn't appear to keep track of upload dates aside from metadata present in the image. Because that picture seems to lack metadata, the site isn't giving me any upload date, even when I'm logged in. I'm pretty sure the only other record of that image was lost in a failed hard drive that is long gone. I'll keep thinking on the matter, but I doubt I'll manage to find the exact date. Sorry about that.

As for other matters, I've been skimming this topic from here backward. I'm at page 32 currently. First of all, holy cow, Marius showed up! I remember watching his videos long before I started setting records. They were crazy impressive. I see on page 32 that you guys are considering that I may have set the record for Burning Man 0 moves based on word from Pavke. However, as Marius theorized, the record that I set was max goo, not least moves. That record has since been beaten. If anyone preceded Marius on least moves, I didn't see it. The first time I remember seeing Burning Man 0 moves was from Marius's videos.

If anyone has any questions, let me know. I'll try to stick around for a bit! Good to be here.

Good to see you got the message. Luckily, davidc has a copy of the 2D Boy forum, so I'll be able to find out the date from that, and also who set the other unknown records.

I have to leave the PC now until tomorrow.

@Peter: Yeah, you came on IRC, then left, then came on, then left... stick around. Say things. Highlight davidc (Means, start typing his name and hit Tab, which'll create a message in the form "davidc: blah"). We're around, but if you don't say anything when you come on, nobody will see you. if you don't say anything when you come on, nobody will see you.

You just contradicted yourself - how would you know I came on, off, on, off if you cant see me? Did you get that 'testing' PM? I was seeing if the new tab would stay up after I dis then re-connected, but it doesnt, so IRC is useless for me.

you get 1585balls for only less than 2weeks

Thats amazing! Someone's collected the max possible!! Where is this SOB? Wink

I see wogb's screen - http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3304058720

@DEFE, I cant really think of anything else to ask you, err.. whats your favourite game and film? Does the name 'DEFE' mean anything? Were you a beta tester for WoG?

@buck, would you mind sending me your new pre-rush tower? I wouldn't mind seeing how high I could go with it sometime. And I wouldn't post any of the results up here.

What I mean by this is that my IRC client highlights the channel grey if someone logs off or on. This happens all the time on every channel ever, so you naturally completely ignore it. If someone speaks, it turns yellow (which you occasionally care about, oftentimes also ignore), and if you are highlighted (someone says your name), the channel turns purple, and oftentimes you'll get a notification in your system tray or a beep or something like that. Basically, most people on IRC ignore people joining or leaving channels, ignore it when people say things, and listen up when people highlight them (Or PM them, but highlighting is generally better). That's just kinda how it goes. So me not seeing you means that I basically didn't notice at the time that you joined, since I was active in other channels at the time.

I did also get the PM, but was probably off doing something else; IRC is slow, and people generally just spend all day there. In the case of davidc and I, both of us are using a similar setup where we have a server running that's connected to IRC 24/7, and we just log into that whenever we're at the computer. In my case, it's all day, but I'll often be doing other things and won't see it immediately when someone speaks or highlights me (If I notice within an hour, I'm doing good).

Mibbit itself is fairly useful just as a way for newbies to be able to chat on IRC, but if you don't like leaving a browser window open, you can use a proper IRC client, like Quassel or mIRC or even Mozilla Thunderbird of all things. They require some setup, but apparently I wrote a tutorial about it a while ago: http://goofans.com/forum/and-then/pictures-of-your-cat/3894#comment-40506

What I was getting at about all this is that the best way I've found of reaching davidc is via IRC. And apparently he did get your message:

Ok good job.

By the way, @Peter B, should OOS OCD record be counted as 0 seconds or 31 seconds in your WoG Charts?

@peter: sure, just email me your new contact info (you said you deleted your gmail account). My contact info is still the same as before.

you have talent on playing WOG, you get 1585balls for only less than 2weeks.

I'll answer properly shall I (I presume you were talking to me). My count is only 1580, and play time just over 1 week. The time is that low due to me always exiting the game by ending the process in Task Manager. When you do this, any time spent in a level doesn't get saved.

@MOM; Woah, I didn't want your life story! Wink I have no interest in IRC, so wont be using it again unless I send another PM. David may have got my message, but I still haven't got one back. He either doesn't like me, or he's determined to become a mystical figure.

@Mygod; Oh yeah, I forgot to change that; making it an N/A would be best don't you think.

@buck; I forgot to keep your email when I deleted the account; you can send it here - (edit: removed)

@Peter B
Heh, I suppose my favorite game would be The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I'm not much of a film person, but I suppose Blade Runner is probably the best one that I've seen.

The name DEFE comes from when I rented Star Wars: The Clone Wars from Blockbuster way back in the day. My friend played it first, and it asked us to name the file. The keyboard was laid out in alphabetical order rather than QWERTY, so my friend just mashed a couple letters and hit start. Since D, E, and F were all next to each other, DEFE came out. I eventually bought that game, and the file was still on my memory card. Now I use it everywhere.

I wasn't a beta tester, unfortunately. I discovered the game shortly after its release.

Now, to prevent this post from being 100% off-topic, while I was combing through earlier messages on this thread, I noticed you discouraging someone from trying my strategy for 0 moves on Welcoming Unit since the time shown on my screenshot was just over an hour. To be fair, I took a break partway through to watch a bit of tv, so it would have probably only taken 40-45 minutes if I kept focused. I was pretty pleased with that record because of how darn silly it was.

Oh boy, I was so close to get 16 balls in fly away little ones. Crying
I ripped off two balls from a chain of five. and then I messed up with killing the the middle one of the three balls chain. That's so frustrating.Tired
I will record my next attempt.

@DEFE; I've never played Majora's Mask. The only Zelda game I have played is Ocarina of Time, coz that was the one that always got hyped about the most. Yeah, I liked Blade Runner (The Final Cut), but not as much as I thought I would seeing as sci-fi is my favourite genre.

I would think my discouragement of 0 moves would've been before I recorded the video of it, where it took me less than 30 min.

@worldofgooballs; next time you make a vid, try to produce it with higher dimensions and bitrate, then we can save a better quality version.

goomatz is back in action! Party It was all a bit tense at the end eh - I made it look so simple in my vid. Anyway, great job; now for me to get 17... nah. Smile

PeterB,
how did you flip the "head" in your 3 seconds run of Burning Man? I think this could lead to many more gooballs.

I think 17 or 18 balls in Fly Away would be possible with LTumbleweeds strategy. I tried it a few times but the gooballs didn't get stuck in the platform they always got pushed out.

Mods,
can this profile: http://goofans.com/leaderboard/player/f282881240e0d3b3b06f44095bda0269
be deleted. It's a copy of PeterB's old profile (not published by himself).

Lemme help you with that.

I manipulated it’s behaviour in a way so when it slow enough to “touch” wall again, its first hit is the big-red-face-thing. Then I think you can just admire how well made is the physic motor of this game : when they collide, because the balloon goes so fast, the big red face is propulse extremely high, making the pipe free.

Nice record by the way. Smile

@AP; I know him; he's set 2 records. What's strange about his profile is the score for SHS. He's meant to have the record time for that (7 sec), and yet it says 22.

@dengshouhao; do you have any videos showing your speed skills? And your move count could easily be improved - but even as they are, you've still made the top 10!

@goomatz; it was just a fluke; wasn't trying to do it.
btw, you're FALO vid should've been in 4:3, not 16:9.
